Lung cancer kills more people annually than colon, breast and prostate cancer combined, with projected deaths of 160,000 from lung cancer compared to 50,830 from colon cancer, 39,620 from breast cancer, and 29,720 from prostate cancer. A lung cancer screening program is available for current or former smokers aged 50 or older who have a smoking history of at least 20 years or a pack a day for 20 years. The screening program includes annual low-dose CT scans, access to smoking cessation programs, consultations, and lung cancer support groups. Treatment options for lung cancer include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and targeted drug therapy.
