The majority of people who answered the
survey were 16 to 24. This is useful for my
research as this is the audience the video
will be targeted at and so I now have a
rough idea of the types of things this age
bracket would like to see in a music video.

What Music Genre do you Enjoy?
Why do you Enjoy this Genre?
The most frequent answer to this question was
indie music. This is useful as Bastille are an indie
band and therefore this will be our target
audience. However there is also a variety of
other answers which may influence the other
answers in this survey.
There was a wide variety of answers to this question, some
were irrelevant although others can be used to influence my
music video. Some people said that they enjoyed indie music
as they are good live, I could therefore use some aspects of
live performance in the video to attract the target audience.

3. Question 5:
Where do you Watch Music Videos?
The most popular answer to this question was
youtube. This means once I have completed my
music video I will post it to youtube to gain the
most amount of views and comments.
Question 6:
What would you like to see in a music video?
This question resulted in the most varied answers. Four of
the answers had a similar amount of responses, the two
most popular answers being ‘narrative’ and ‘fictional
stories’, using this answer and from my research into indie
music genre conventions I will have an element of narrative
within my video.

What Attracts you to an Album Cover?
One of the most popular answers to this question
was ‘pictures of the artist’ however this may be
difficult to achieve as we don’t plan to include a
‘singer’ in the video and it will be more narrative
based. Instead we could use pictures of the actors
from the video we create.
Question 8:
What Colours would Attract you to a Digipak?
The most popular answer to this was ‘bright colours’
however digipaks from the indie genre often use dark
subdued colours as part of their digipak. Most of
Bastille’s single and album covers used subdued colours
so for my digipak. As I am trying to use the genre
conventions to create an authentic and professional
looking digipak I will use dark and subdued colours in
my digipak.

What is your Favourite Music Video?
Do you prefer if a music video and digipak
has a similar theme?
There was a large range number of answers for this
question as we left the question completely open for
people to choose their own answer instead of choosing
from a list of songs we had put together. Although we
can’t take any definite evidence from these for what to
do in our video we can watch the videos from the
relevant genre and take influence of certain elements
from these.
This result clearly shows that the majority of people
prefer it if a music video has a similar theme to the
digipak. For this reason, and to give a more professional
finish to the digipak we will carry similar themes
throughout all aspects of the digipak.
