Robin Hood:

Robin Hoods hood makes his face fully shadowed showing mystery.
The peasant is wearing rags and dirty clothes, showing low class.
The men on the horses are wearing all dark colours showing seriousness and that they aren’t
       up to any good.
The men on the horses are carrying weapons which shows they are able to enforce their
       laws. They also wear armour.
The setting is all green and wooded showing that it easy to hide in, but also tough to get out
       of.
The men on horses are wearing helmets and protection compared to the peasant who has
       nothing protect himself with.
The incidental music goes echo-y when Robin Hood appears from behind the tree.
The lighting is high key lighting as it is all equal lighting in the forest.
The men on horses are shown in shadows when they go after Robin Hood.
“My wife expects a child. We have no food. We must eat or we will not keep the baby.”
“I will lose in trial, and my hand.” The upper class always win.
“My master and I shall see that you leave with more than just you tails between your legs”,
shows that he’s not very clever, stereotypical that peasants dumb.

The knights appear on their horses which is a significant prop, showing that from the
beginning they have the upper hand as they are shown higher up than the peasant both
physically and socially. The horses also mean that they have an advantage at being able to
escape from danger quickly, whereas the peasant only has his legs to try and get him away
from them quickly, putting him at a disadvantage and also showing his class as low for not
being able to afford a horse to use when he goes out stealing from people. The costume of
the knights are also very dark with them only wearing black and silver, this represents them
as being dangerous and also the antagonists because the black shows mystery as we don’t
know what they are capable of, but it infers that they aren’t up to any good. They are also
wearing amour with weapons in it which shows them as having a higher status because the
peasant is in no position to object to what they tell him to do which is also backed up when
he says, “I will lose in trial, and my hand.” This shows that the higher class will always come
out on top in trial, meaning the peasants are always at a disadvantage. But the high class are
also very flippant about this fact, which is shown in the close up of the leader of the knights
expression when he hears this, it is natural which shows that he doesn’t care about the
man’s position because it doesn’t affect him. In contrast to the knights, the peasants in this
clip are shown are quite dirty and dumb. The man who is being persecuted is wearing dirty
rags, which in comparison to the armour, shows him as weak for not being able to protect
himself against them, but also for not being able to provide for his family. Robins accomplice
is also shown as being quite dumb when he gives away their scheme saying, “My master and
I shall see that you leave with more than just you tails between your legs.” It is very
stereotypical that it is the peasant to be shown as dumb, seen as they can’t afford food
never mind an education, it also shows him as being quite unreliable compared to the
knights who are in formation and are all highly trained to protect each other. The lighting is
high key and natural in the forest which shows that it is an even playing field, especially
when Robin steps in, the forest is also robins natural environment which shows that he is in
no danger throughout the clips, until the end when the knights realise that they have being
tricked and come after them. In that clip they are shown covered in shadows, inferring that
they are not going to do any good to the protagonists at all. But at the beginning of the clip,
Robin is also shown in shadows as well, with his hood making his face appear all black. This
shows a shift in the status, as it is now the peasant who is a threat to the knights and the
shadow on his face shows that they don’t know what he is capable of. This puts them at a
disadvantage for the first time in the clips, and also shows that unlike the peasants who have
to fight to stay safe, the upper class are able to just run away whenever they feel
threatened. The emphasise Robin Hoods mysteriousness, the incidental music goes echo-y
sounding unnatural, because it is unnatural for a peasant to have the upper hand again the
knights because they are usually above the law.
