Radiological Dispersal Device (RDD) Particle Chemistry EPA DCMD, RTP
EPA Lab, September 2009 to present
This is an ongoing project which includes making substrate/coupons out of five different
building materials; asphalt, brick, concrete, granite and limestone and then dosing coupons
with Cesium (Cs), Cobalt (Co), or Strontium (Sr) to simulate a dirty bomb. Responsibilities
include washing all coupons down with deionized water and collecting and labeling specific
samples. Ensuring that samples collected are then divided and sent to external and internal
laboratories for additional testing and verification utilizing GLP practices. Before and after all
testing simulations, directly responsible for setting the chamber up and then breaking it down
when sampling is finished and ensuring that the area is sterilized for new tests to be
conducted also to collect the raw data and reduce to a product to be prepared to be given to
the client.

2. H. Frank Grainger II, Environmental Technical Engineer Professional
Upstream Oil and Gas Emissions Measurement Project, Well Site Emission Field Studies
EPA Field Sites, Texas, Dallas Fort-Worth; Colorado, Greely; Wyoming, Pinedale 2010 to 2012
A 2-year project, involving numerous Western states. Project required conducting tests and assisting scientific team serving
the multitude of clients including; EPA, local municipalities and other federal government agencies and representatives of
major oil companies. A licensed CDL and natural scout, served as lead driver for scientific team and responsible for all
equipment and locator of all test sites with duties associated to setting the collection system. Led the monitoring of the data
collection process and collecting air samples utilizing Summa®
canisters.
Mercury (Hg) Measurements Laboratory and Field Testing
EPA Lab, 2010 – 2011
Assisted in the evaluation of Hg calibration using the gravimetric balance and developing MOPs (method of practice).
Primary responsibilities focused on the collection and identification of samples and providing them to the lab for further
testing and evaluation.
Characterization of Potential Cross-Media Transfers - Coal Ash and Landfills
EPA Field Sites, North Carolina landfills, 2010 – 2012
Identified preferred testing locations and set-up Low Frequency Radio Range (LFRs) at landfills across NC to measure the
release of methane gas utilizing mirrors set at varying distances and heights. Served as lift operator and mirror expert
utilizing the installation of lasers to target all mirrors. Took GPS coordinates to mark all mirrors for later use in the report
and logged the data capturing wind and laser measurements.
Assessment of Water Wash-down
EPA Lab DCMD, RTP, 2009 – 2010
Used a consumer-level pressure washer with pressure ranging between 2000-4000psi to wash down coupons (substrate)
that were dosed with Cesium (Cs), to simulate a dirty bomb. Responsibility focused on washing the coupons down and
collecting the sample, then dividing the sample utilizing a syringe filtering process to be sent to both internal and
external labs for further analysis. Additional duties included, setting-up and breaking down testing chamber when
sampling was completed and documenting reactions from dosing the coupons with the Cs either in a wet or dry solution.
