• William Shakespeare was an
English poet, playwright, and actor, widely
regarded as the greatest writer in the English
language and the world's pre-eminent
dramatist. He is often called England's
national poet, and the "Bard of Avon". His
extant works, including collaborations, consist
of approximately 38 plays,154 sonnets, two
long narrative poems, and a few other verses.
3. Birth Information
• William Shakespeare was born in Stratford
–upon –Avon on April 23, 1564
• He was the third child of eight kids.
• He was the eldest son of John and Mary
Shakespeare.
4. Family Life
His father, John Shakespeare, owned a
shop as a glove maker and also held
several government positions, including
Mayor of Stratford.
5. Married Life
• The first official document was
his marriage to Anne
Hathaway on Nov. 27, 1582. He
was 18 and she was 26.
• He had a daughter Susanna and
twins named Hamnet and Judith.
• Hamnet died while still a child.
