2. The stake
Industrial companies regard System Engineering as a major stake when
confronted to the challenge of developing complex systems, relying massively on
shared resources in response to multiple stakes.
All the works already achieved (conceptual, tooling, normalization) still hasn’t
significantly enhanced the productivity and the efficiency of the design processes.
Living up to such stakes entails coming up with a brand new way of considering
human conceptualization processes, a constructive, systematically relativized
and finality driven method that meet scientific and operational requirements.

3. RSE & KGM
Relativized System Engineering (RSE) and Knowledge Genesis Management (KGM) are two
methods developed within the MRC(1) - RS(2) framework
• RSE aims at optimizing the design process of complex systems in response to multiple stakes or
the knowledge building process of such systems
• KGM aims at optimizing the definition and the implementation of the management of RSE
processes and their products, including what is known as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

4. Relativized System Engineering
• Organizes the development process as the dynamic confrontation of two complementary ways of thinking
• Usage driven, which leads to the concepts of system and relativized description of resources,
• Resource driven which focuses on the technical-economical optimization of architectures and shared resources.
• Guarantees the testability of any model element through the standardization of conceptualization levels,
built upon what is adopted as “elementary facts”: the transferred or basic description level.
• Provides formal models to generate tests and pause verdict at any stage of the integration/validation phase.
Makes it possible to compute factual probability laws out of models, to statistically evaluate the conformity
of the realized against the expected (or the validity of an hypothesis).
• Makes it possible, at any stage of the development process, to consider the different contributing points of
view altogether or separately (simulation, testing).
• Distinguishes the biopsychic (human usages) and technical-scientific models and traces the constructed
dependencies between these two points of view.
• Doesn’t impose any task scheduling to meet projects specificities, but give explicit criteria to assess
whether the model is consistent, refutable and meet its goals.

5. Knowledge Genesis Management
• Distinguishes between Resource and Roles and trace their matching conditions for each project.
• Relies on class of entities (organizational entity, task, product,….) freely defined according to the needs,
whose realization may itself be regarded as the result of a KGM managed design process (eg: training
people, designing some equipment …) or be considered as “given” from the start.
• Qualifies these entities from different points of view, explicitly constructed, depending on the contributing
roles which may be used in one or several projects.
• Formalizes and monitors any design process as a network of dependant tasks, acting on an explicit
subtract, requiring resources, and yielding design artefacts which may consist in set of different items.
• Organizes and traces the delivery of these artefacts through a qualification process relative to the type of
artefact and the organization, which specifies the different roles involved, the referential applicable to each
step, traces the decisions and manages there applicability and there effectivity.
