How to create a Pick a Path Story using Powerpoint
1.
2. Clickable Events
A clickable event can be used for creating a pick
a path story.
For example slides 1-4 could be the intro to the
story, slide 5 would have clickable shapes that
take you to the different endings. Slides 6, 7, 8
would have the different endings of the story
with slide 9 being the very end.
3. Creating a Clickable Paths
Make sure you have the slide created that
you want to go to when a shape is clicked
on.
Set up a slide to have the clickable shapes
to enable the selection of the different
story paths.
Insert, Shapes and draw relevant shapes
as shown below or alternatively insert
picture or clipart.
4. Creating a Clickable Paths
Next click on
shape/picture and Right
Mouse Click on Action
Settings.
5. Creating a Clickable Paths
Then click on Hyperlink to: and
select the slide you want to go to
in the document under Slide…
You may want to Play a Sound on
clicking as well on this screen to
add to the atmosphere of the
story.
Repeat for each path you want to
create.
6. Creating a Clickable Paths
Now finish setting up your end story
slides.
After entering the end of the story,
then insert a shape on that slide
which will enable a person to click on
to go back to the pick a path slide to
choose a different path. Have
another ‘button’ which you can click
on to go to the end of the slides to
completely finish.
Look for different buttons available
under Insert, Shapes.
Hint: Once you have action settings
set, copy and paste the button onto
another slide and just edit the
settings as relevant.
