In 2005 Pam Slim started her blog, escape from cubicle nation, chronically what it was like to work for someone else – the day to day trials and trivialities that go with it.
She got noticed by a publisher and was asked to write the book Escape from Cubicle Nation: From Corporate Prisoner to Thriving Entrepreneur! In the spring of 2009 it was release and became a best-seller.
Society o f American Florist writer Cassandra Foster, read my blog and then contacted me to do a story. She ended up doing a 3 page article, sent someone to my shop to photograph our work and staff and this is the result.
From this article I received a call from a woman who was Japanese marrying a Catholic. She wanted us to do the floral décor because of what she read.
A month later we got another call from a Christian woman marrying an American Indian who also wanted us to do the flowers.
We can directly attribute more than $7500 in business from this one article.
In 2008 I wrote this article about flowers and religion based upon my own research and our experiences with customers who placed orders for flowers to honor their religious traditions and beliefs.

I took this screen shot on Friday and today we have 2467 facebook followers. I don't really promote our page but people find us.
WE make money thru google adwords, advertising, product submissions and book submissions as well as bi-annual “contests” where we charge a fee to enter.
Here is what our blog looked like in 2011 – it was the 3rd iteration since we started in 2006.
Point out the 101 women bloggers to watch - #1 most read article with more than. I got the idea from visiting other blogs and noticing how “lists” seem to be some of the more popular posts with the highest amount of comments, social sharing and engagement.
Originally I posted this on a blogger blog which I no longer maintain but is still out there and I even make money on it from the google ads. I posted 67 women bloggers, then 87, then 99 and eventually when I started this blog I transferred the concept to WE Magazine for Women.
It is a great way to get traffic!
We have received as few as 66 comments and as high as 250 comments.
I calculate that for every comment we get we get 100+ visitors. Making this a really profitable strategy.
This fall we are publishing our annual 101 women in ecommerce issue recognizing women from around the globe! It should reach close to a half million people.
In the 15 audios I have interviewed Darran Rouse, Denise Wakeman, Liz Straus and 12 other top bloggers in the world.
I interviewed Pam Slim for a Writing Series I did in 2012.
