Challengeology is back for its second year in a row to examine the use of challenge competitions by government and private sector sponsors to promote the use of health and health data. Various approaches in challenge design and strategies for engaging new talent, skills, and perspectives have proven important to draw interest and create examples of the value of data. Challenges have been used to help demonstrate key principles and policies for new approaches to data use. This session will feature discussion by leading challenge management organizations who have experience in design and execution of health data-related challenges. Other discussion topics will include types of data, questions, or health issues that lend themselves to successful challenges, as well as discussion on what to do with challenge winners (and losers).
