Information
Increasing amount of information
Velocity of information
Variety of sources
Free access
Tools
Allow the treatment of high volume of information
One tool for one type of documents (study, focus, newsletters…)
How many tools for a single document?
How many operations for an analysis?
Limits
We should fix the same limits as for our clients

15. Abstract (2)
Taking distance
We must act as a filter: we can not regulate the information flow but we can take a
snapshot at one time and give all information a new sense
What managers need: key news / analysis & trends / general view / 2 pages max
Mixing apples and oranges
We have a competitive approach of each subject (a company in its overall), we
need to study the different sort of information provided by a company
Taking risks
Assuming that information is a drop of water, the impact will create a wave: by
putting some sensors at key places in the internet, we will capture the signal of this
wave at one moment
We will never watch all information
accept we only see the tip of the information’s iceberg
take risks by extrapolating on the invisible part of the iceberg
warn our clients that we/he will only see a little part of available information

16. If we had to design a new tool…
A tool that take in account our digestion limit
A tool that integrate different sorts of data
A tool that simplify validation of information
A tool easy to use as mobile applications
A tools that provides intelligent visualizations: infographics (automatic?) and graphs
according to the type of information
To resume, 2 concepts:
Simplification
Risks for the client (we can not digest more / we can not go faster)
Beyond the tools:
Our brain is the last database/tool that we can use
Should we adopt a more dynamic and aggressive mode of working?
The importance of the network: create an IE / watch family
A personal reflection on the evolution of information manager’s
profession: to be discuss with your colleagues!
