Maths Project. Yarra City Council Park Design: Part 1
The local city council (City of Yarra) has asked your design team to submit a proposal to the City Planning and Zoning
Committee for a new city park that is cost effective yet meets the following criteria.
1. It must meet the needs of the surrounding community. http://profile.id.com.au/yarra/population
2. It must serve people of all ages and cultures
3. It must be usable in all seasons and day and night (think about security and lighting and sun shades)
4. It must include one focal point surrounded by a symmetrical plant border
5. The border of the park must be designed to be usable (Eg: brick wall for cricket or tennis)
6. Only 30% of the area of park can be used for playground ( A lower percentage is acceptable)
7. Only 25% of the area can be paved or cemented. (A lower percentage is acceptable)
8. You can use 60,000m2 of land that must be a rectangle shape
9. You have a $1,000,000 budget
10. You must include at least 10 seats, 5 park benches, 2 barbecues, 1 toilet block, 50 lights, rubbish bins, 100 trees and a water feature.
11. An advertisement or persuasive paragraph that explains why your design would be best choice by the Planning and Zoning Committee.
