2. Both me and my partner thought
very hard about how we could
make our film both effective and
different to other similar films
using the same genre. Our film
challenged real media conventions
as the ending was very different
and unpredictable to what is
expected of a specific film in this
genre. Another way in which it
challenged real media conventions
is that our film does not show the
views and thoughts of an American
boy but a British boy and how
people all around the world were
effected not just those in America
which would be the obvious
thought.
3. After finishing our film, me and my
partner decided that it would be
good to design a poster and
magazine page in order to promote
our movie. I think that they both
worked very well in that the poster
follows on conventions of a real
film poster, it is both eye catching
and exciting to look at. The
magazine is very detailed in how it
talk about how the audience will
feel about the film, once again
sticking to the conversations of a
real magazine with added
differences to make it unique. It
also shares reviews of the public.
4. Me and my partner both found
that the best way of finding our
audience feedback was to carry
out a questionnaire. We did this to
ensure that the genre of our film
will appeal to the main target
audience that we will find out. The
questionnaire also gave us the idea
that audiences do like to receive
media products from platforms
such as the internet. This
information gathered helped me
and my partner come to the
conclusion that if we was to spread
the word of our film to our target
audience, the best way to do so
would be to use the internet. We
used websites such as
youtube, twitter and facebook to
spread the word of our film.
5. The most important piece of media
technology that both me and my
partner did most of our research
from was the internet. We found that
typing into google things such as
‘short films on racism’ helped us
massively to understand more of the
basics on our specific genre which
would ensure that we catch the
audiences attention as best as we
could.
Youtube was also a massive bonus
for us both as on there we could find
videos of not only other short films
regarding our genre but tips on both
camera angles and mis-en-scene.
Microsoft office was very helpful in
small parts. It helped us to create a
questionnaire that was used to find
our audience and PowerPoint which
was used mainly for research notes
whilst planning for the film.
6. The main thing we used in
planning for our film was our
media blog. On these we saved
every bit of research and planning
during our production stage. This
gives us something to look back on
and show us how we developed
throughout the film. Using the
blogs also allows the public to view
and comment on them, giving us
ideas on how we can improve and
make our film more appealing. This
also allowed our target audience to
see our progress through out the
production.
7. In the construction of our film we
used an editing system called
EDIUS 4. All of our main film
editing was done on this, there
was even a mode called ‘title
creator’ which we used to create
our titles and credits.
