2. What is Motion?
It is a change in the position of an object.
For Example:
A moving car
3.
4. Relative motion:
The change in the position of one object in
relation to another.
For example:
A person watching the train pass
5. Speed
Speed means how fast something is moving
or is able to move.
speed is measured as the distance covered/
per unit time.
Km/hr
Distance is covered in kilometers and time is
in hours, then the unit of measurement
of speed is 'km' per 'hour' or km/hr.
9. Class work (Write definitions)
Motion:
Relative motion:
Speed:
Velocity:
Acceleration:
Reference point:
It determines if an object is in motion.
For example
When you sit in a car, you can tell if the car is moving by
observing the static objects such as trees
Force:
A force is any push or pull. A force can make an object move in
direction of force.
10. Motion Page 101 blank
1. The car moves around the curves
2. It turns to the right and move in a straight line
3. It turns to the right again and move in a straight line
11. Force make objects move or stop.
A Force is any push or pull. It makes the
object move in the direction of force.
For Example:
The magnetic force used
to pull heavy objects.
12. When we touch an object to move it is called as Contact Force.
For Example:
A marble will not Move until you hit
it with your finger.
We can make use of
the muscular force of animals
like bullocks, horses, and camels
to get the activities done.
13. All forces have Size and Direction.
The dogs are pulling the toy in opposite
direction and with the same amount of
force.
The forces are Balanced and the toy doesn’t
move.
If one dog pulls with more force, the forces
will be unbalanced.
The toy will move toward the dog pulling
with Greater Force.
Is the force balanced ?
14. Look at the picture below. With a partner,
describe what you think will happen.
1. It can make an object start to move
in direction of force
2. Move faster
3. Slow down
4. Stop
5. Change direction
15. Force and Motion
Force cause a change in motion of
an object.
The amount of force can affect the
Speed and Direction of motion.
For Example
When you ride a bike, you push the
pedals.
If you push harder the bike goes
faster.
You turn the handlebars, the bike
changes direction.
Pedaling and turning change the
Bike’s motion.
16. Force and Motion
A Moving Object changes its motion when a Force
is applied.
If Balanced Force is applied to a moving object it
will keep moving at the Same speed in the same
direction.
For Example:
When you continue to pedal your bike with the
same force
The bike will continue to move at the same speed
because the same force is acting on it.
A person applied force to the bike pedals. The pedals transfer the force
to the chain and then to the tires. The cause the bike to move.
17. 1. A bike goes faster when you push the pedals harder
2. If you stop pedaling , the bike will slow down
3. It changes direction when you turn the handlebars
