3. Introduction to Reiki
• The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life”
and (Ki) which means “Energy”
• Transfer is made from a Reiki channel
• Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things
• Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their
own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and help others
• It is believed that a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free flowing
• When this is true a person’s body and mind is in a positive state of health
• When the energy becomes weak or blocked it could lead to symptoms of physical
or emotional imbalance

• Reiki is not black magic:
• Reiki is not massage or spa
• Reiki is not about doing yogic poses
• Reiki is not about troubling someone
• Reiki is not about controlling someone
• Reiki is not about fooling someone
• Reiki is not acupressure or acupuncture
• Reiki is not about being not susceptible to any disease
in future
• NO..Reiki does not backfire
• Reiki doesn’t preach celibacy or vegeterianism

• Degree 1 : Shoden : Healing by touch
• Degree 2 : Okuden : healing by intention
irrespective of time and distance
• Degree 3 : Shinipeden : mastering the healing
Please note that level 3 has 2 sub levels; you
become a master in 3a and then a teacher in
level 3b

9. Attunement
• An amazingly simple technique to learn, the
ability to use Reiki is not taught in the usual
sense, but is transferred to the student during a
Reiki class
• This ability is passed on during an "attunement"
given by a Reiki master and allows the student to
tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy"
to improve one's health and enhance the quality
of life

10. Energy Exchange
• Reiki is a Bi Polar energy, as we all know
• It means, there has to be an exchange of energy, for transferring Reiki
energy or Reiki healing
• This can be explained with a small example: If you need to put water in a
glass, the air or any other thing present in glass has to be taken out.
Similarly, the person to be healed, need to show gratitude towards the
healer and have to do some energy exchange, to which the healer agrees.
This energy exchange can be of any form, as mutually agreed. This can be
anything done for the healer, any help or can be money, food or gifts.
Remember, There must be some exchange
• No energy can be transferred, without any energy exchange
• The healing done with proper gratitude and energy exchange is done with
excellent results
• The healing where is no energy exchange done, are either not done fully
or may have some issues to the healer or the person getting healing.

11. Reiki Ethics
• Confidentiality of client; never reveal the details to
others
• Permission and free will
• Approval if to touch or to give reiki in the aura; no
undressing required
• Medical history to be enquired
• Healing to be taken in addition to medicines NOT as a
substitute
• No change in medical treatment
• Safe comfortable place
• Respect client’s space and opinions
