2.  Hemin is a natural porphyrinatoiron complex
that has lots of biological functions, such as
catalases and peroxides.
 Hemin has been widely applied to
pharmaceutical, the food industry, environment
science, bioscience and technology.
 Hemin(haemin: ferric chloride heme) is an iron
containing porphyrin with chlorine that can be
formed from a haem group , such as haem b
found in the hemoglobin of human blood.

3. Hemin is protoporphyrin IX containing a ferric
iron(Fe+3) ion with a co-ordinating chloride ligand.
Chemically , hemin differs from the related heme-
compound hematin.
Hematin: Hematin is a dark bluish or brownish
pigment containing iron in the ferric state obtained by
the oxidation of heam.
** It can interact with many protein and serves as a
photodynamic agent in cancer therapy.
Heme: an iron containing compound of the porphyrin
class which forms the non-protein part of
haemoglobin.

5. Hemoglobin: Hemoglobin is the protein molecule in red
blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the
body's tissues and returns carbon dioxide from the
tissues back to the lungs.

**Hemin: Hemin( iron(III) protoporphyrin IX,Hm) an
important natural metalloporphyrin is the active center for
several families of heme-proteins such as peroxidases,
catalases,hemoglobins,myoglobins etc.

10. Due to the presence of the Fe(III) /Fe(II) redox
couple ,hemin Myioglobin and hemoglobin
exhibits excellent electro catalytic properties.
Hemin, a natural porphyrinatoiron complex, shows
wide potential applications as the heterocatalyst in
addressing the environment and energy related issues,
including the electrochemical reduction of
uranium,nitrite,nitric oxide, hydrogen peroxide, carbon
dioxide, and the oxidation of peroxynitrite.Also, hemin
is found to be able to electrocatalyze the oxygen
reduction reaction (ORR).
