1. CAS TRIP 2009
Lush green mountains, fresh air, cold freezing water and clear blue sky..... is
what was waiting for all the 12th
graders who went for the CAS trip which is
mandatory under the I.B. Diploma Program. On the 11th
of October to the 13th
of October, 45 students (33 boys and 12 girls) long with 5 teachers (Mr. V M
Pokhriyal; Vice-Principal, Mr.Gyanendra Tewatia; CAS Coordinator, Mrs. Shenaz
Bano, Mr. Jinas, Mr. Balwinder Singh) were all who were ready for an adventure.
Day 1
All excited and ready assembled at school on the 11th
of October at 5.30 am. Journey started at
0600 hours. Four hours of continuous-seated run we reached the place where we had the first meal
of our trip, Cheetal Grand. After filling our stomachs we resumed the journey towards Tehri. IPods,
cameras, singing and the friends helped us get through the tiring journey uphill. Finally, after 12
hours of patient journey, at 1800 hours, we reached Tehri. Surrounded with the forests, in the dark,
we were welcomed with refreshments. Under the shining stars, with a chill in the air, with the
cosiness of each other’s presence we all gathered around the bonfire. The evening was spent with
singing, dancing and of course, the special performance by Mr. Pokhriyal. After a gala time, we
hogged our food and had a lovely night under the shadow of the stars.
2. Day 2
All woke up at 0600 and were greeted with the hot tea, served in the cold early morning. All set,
everybody left for trekking which was an experience on its own, emits the cool, green and
refreshing surroundings. The breakfast was waiting for all of us when we reached back at 0800
hours. After breakfast all of us packed again to leave Tehri and started another journey towards
Rishikesh. A five hour non-stop downhill journey with a lot of singing and screaming and we
reached another mind blowing place- Rishikesh.
The location of the camp at Rishikesh was perfect with camps on one side and the river Ganga and
mountains on the other. Lunch was the first thing we received at this camp and then we rushed for
the most exciting and adventurous part of our trip- White Water Rafting. Many were scared and
others had great anticipations, when we all left to raft. Once back from Shivpuri, shivering and cold,
everybody changed into comfortable and warm clothes and relaxed around the bonfire. After all the
activities of the day, we all welcomed the hot and delicious dinner after which all went off to
sleep...‘Lights out’.
3. Day 3
A beautiful morning and fulfilling scenery awaited everybody the last day. Again, tea was served at
0600 hours and then a volley ball match took place. Tired and hungry after the match, everyone
enjoyed cherished the first meal of the day. After breakfast, sad with the thought of leaving an
amazing and enriching place, everybody gathered as many memories as possible with the help of
cameras. Finally, we left for Delhi at 1100 hours. We stopped for lunch at Cheetal grand at 1600
hours after a very tiring and impatient journey. After lunch everybody relaxed and the journey
continued. All reached school at 2300 hours.
Finally, we would like to thank the school Management especially Mrs. Renu Goenka, VCM;
Mr.Satinder Kumar, Director Academics; Mrs.Neeta Bali, Principal; Mr. V M Pokhriyal, Vice-
Principal; Mrs.Sapna Yaday, IBDP Coordinator; Mr.Gyanendra Tewatia, CAS Coordinator and
teachers who escorted us on the trip. It was a great experience to be with everyone and a part of
the CAS trip. We have a lot of images and memories now to look back to and cherish all the times
spent together. William Wordsworth has put it rightly – to go back to the images of nature, when in
hard times.
