20. Lou Cuneo
Lou is here representing the energy efficiency efforts of the American
Academy of Ophthalmology, whose headquarters are located here in San
Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. Although he has been involved in facility
management for over 40 years, his introduction was through a stint as
deputy fire chief in charge of ensuring 45 fire stations and over 150 pieces
of rolling stock were ready to provide fire and rescue services to the City
of Atlanta. In that discipline Lou also served as Georgia’s Deputy State
Fire Marshal for a few years before changing careers…a few times.
For the past 20 years Lou has worked as a safety, security and facility
management director at medical centers and biomedical manufacturing
campuses. For the past 5 years he has served as Director of Facilities
Management for the American Academy of Ophthalmology,
headquartered in Fisherman’s Wharf and across the street from the
Buena Vista Café. Stop by.
Lou is also the current president of the Fisherman’s Wharf Community
Benefit District’s Board of Directors. Over the years he earned a Bachelor
of Science degree from Brenau University (that’s in Georgia) with majors
in Criminal Justice and Fire Protection Administration, and a Masters of
Public Administration from the University of San Francisco.
