• My dream is to create a comic strip that’s
published regularly in a popular national or
international publication.

5. Let’s break that down a bit.
• ‘Publication’
– A newspaper, a magazine – with enough readership
– Maybe even a web site – but only if it’s phenomenally
popular.
• ‘Create’
– This means that I’ll make the art and do the writing.
– I’m flexible about the art (I’d be willing to enlist help).

6. How I’ll spend the moolah
• Advertising on popular web sites (1.5 lacs
would be too small a budget for TV)
• Licensed copies of selected products from
Adobe’s Creative Suite for the art
• Travelling and sessions with comic artists of
note.

7. What I’d like to get from Godrej
(apart from the dough)
• Association with the Godrej name
• Mentorship, advice from the Culture Lab
• More T-shirts

8. Things you’re probably wondering
• Do you really need any money for this?
– I could make a web comic and put it online, but that’ll just
be another of hundreds of comics out there.
– To truly make it work, I’ll need to market it better, which
can be done better with funding.
• Why don’t the characters in the video have Indian
names?
– The target audience is more global than Indian.
– There’ll be Western pop culture references. Ramgopal
talking about lightsabers just doesn’t work.
