2. STAR IMAGE
• The four members are dressed up in black suits and in black ties. It is essential that they all
have two button blazer and they only button up the second one. (Reference to Man In Black)
• All the band members are wearing futuristic glasses. It highlights the electronic aspect of
their music
• The members are all male and they play: Synths, bass guitar, vocals and drums (Drums are
supposed to look electronic, this can be provided with the usage of drum practice pads.)
3. DEMOGRAPHIC/PSYCHOGRAPHIC PROFILE
Demographic.
1)People who tend to watch futuristic films
2)People who play video games with robots. (e.g.
Bionic Commando, Metal Gear Rising)
3)People who visit disco clubs. (Hence Electro-
Disco)
4)People who listen to experimental music.
Psychographic.
1)People who are interested in science
2)People who believe that robots are capable
of developing intellect.
3)People who believe in robotic future.
4. INSTITUTIONAL CONTEXT.
• Our band would start of as a classical pop-rock band. Then, they moved further into usage of
effects and vocoders which lead them to producing songs with more futuristic style to it. At
that stage they were signed to a small independent label. As their usage of effects developed
they automatically picked up funky/groove aspects to their music. They then changed their
indie slaggy style into smart suits and glasses. After doing so they started to sell more records
and were picked up by one of the bigger company who adored their style and tailored their
releases to more mainstream audiences.
6. CONCEPT OF THE VIDEO
1) The band is playing the song. They are in the studio in futuristically white room. Close-ups of their faces
instruments (e.g. bass guitar, drums)
2) The robot and the girl outside looking at the flower. She is showing him and telling him about what she
likes about flowers. They both look up to the sun and the robot tries to touch it and the girl laughs
(nicely).
NOTE: Whenever we see a shot when the robot is with the girl, we film it in real colours. BUT when he
is on his own or we see the band playing, the colours are black and white.
3) The robot is in the same places as when he was with the girl except that now everything is in black and
white and he is frustrated and he tries to learn about human feelings but fails because she is not here.
(e.g. breaking the flower) However, the message of the video is that he had already learnt these
feelings because he misses the girl and he loves her. Ceasing to realise this, robot self-destructs by
taking his battery out.
7. IDEAS FOR KEY INDIVIDUAL SHOTS/SCENES
• The video opens up with shots of a broken flower and the sun between the trees. Reflection of sun on
robot’s glasses as he lies motionless.
• Shots of a band emerging from the dark as the lights go up and we see the whole band playing. (Looks
elevating. Contrast between dark room with one member to a white futuristic room with all the other
members.
• In the end, a robot frustrated pulls out his battery from his back (the battery is initially attached with
TRANSPARENT tape and wires to emphasize that he is a robot.) Some ideas on how to make it look
more dramatic: Slow motion, after-effects (sparks).
• A number of close-ups on girl’s face as she is holding the robot (like couples do). This reflects their
intimate relationship and love.
