This document discusses principles and perspectives on missions mobilization. It emphasizes that mobilization is the process of educating God's people about His plans for world evangelization and keeping them involved. Mobilizers inspire and connect individuals to strategic opportunities that align with God's global purpose. Effective mobilization requires dealing with deep roots like beliefs and worldviews, not just surface issues. Storytelling and meeting real needs are important for contextualization. The document presents principles for community development and mobilization, including starting small and letting ownership emerge locally.
8. Mobilization Call - Isaiah 58
“Shout it aloud, do not hold back.
Raise your voice like a
trumpet.
Declare to my people their
rebellion
and to the descendants of
Jacob their sins.
12. Mobilization!
Mobilization is the process of envisioning and
educating God's people about His strategic plans
for the world, and it is the means of keeping them
involved and moving forward until they find their
specific place and role in world evangelization.
21. Mobilizers!
Mobilizers stir other Christians to active concern
for reaching the world. They coordinate efforts
between senders, the local churches, sending
agencies, and missionaries on the field.
Mobilizers are essential.
22. Mobilizers!
Mobilizers are those who channel key resources,
training, and vision for world evangelization to the
Body of Christ. It has been said, that to improperly
appreciate and support the role of the mobilizer is
to seriously hinder the functions of the goer,
sender, and welcomer.
28. The Whole Church!
In the twenty-first century, it is important to realize that the
responsibility for reaching Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists is
too large for the missionary enterprise. While missionaries will
always be at the forefront of innovative strategies, the whole
Church needs to participate in inviting people of other faiths to
consider Jesus Christ. - Todd Johnson
35. Mott and Speer
Probably no two people in
history are traceably responsible
for more missionaries going to
the field than John R. Mott and
Robert E. Speer
36. Why Are Mission Mobilizers Crucial?
Local Churches Need Skilled Heart Transplants
A mission mobilizer owes it to the church and the
nations to acquire the skill and knowledge
necessary to help do an effective heart transplant
of vision and understanding.
37. Why Are Mission Mobilizers Crucial?
Romans 10:15 asks this question:
“…And how can anyone preach
unless they are sent?”
39. Why Are Mission Mobilizers Crucial?
More go’ers (preachers) requires more
senders
Mobilizers envision, equip and connect both
the go’ers (preachers) and the senders
40. Prioritizing the Unreached
“All men are equally lost but not all men are
equally needy” - Dr Ralph Winter
Triage = evaluate and prioritize where the
need is greatest
41. Fewer Mobilizers = Fewer Missionaries
But there would be few missionaries unless
there were also intensely committed and
skilled mobilizers.
47. Love vs. Judgement
Love is the central command in Scripture and judgment the
central prohibition. Indeed, judgment is the “original sin” in
Scripture.
This is why the forbidden tree in the center of the garden…was
called the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil”.
― Gregory A. Boyd, Repenting of Religion
48. Love vs. Judgment
Our fundamental sin is that we place ourselves in the position
of God and divide the world between what we judge to be good
and what we judge to be evil. And this judgment is the primary
thing that keeps us from doing the central thing God created
and saved us to do, namely, love like he loves.
― Gregory A. Boyd, Repenting of Religion
50. You Could Be Right…
It might be true that the community you are trying
to mobilize is selfish and lazy…
but mobilizing with judgment will not bring life!
51. What does it look like
to mobilize from the
Tree of Life?
55. The Bride of Christ
His intent was that now, through the church, the
manifold wisdom of God should be made known
to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly
realms. (Ephesians 3:7-12)

83. Man of Peace Principle
When you enter a house, first say, `Peace to this
house.’ If a man of peace is there, your peace will
rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that
house, eating and drinking whatever they give you,
for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move
around from house to house. - Luke 10:5-6
90. Jesus walked in an open universe
They have no wine. - Jn 2:1 - 11
There are no fish. - Lk 5:1 - 11
We are perishing! - Mt 8:23 - 27
Where could we find food? - Mk 8:1 - 9
Does your master pay taxes? - Mt 17:24

92. Triage
"All men are equally lost, but not all are equally
needy.” -Dr. Ralph Winter
Triage -the assignment of degrees of urgency to
wounds or illnesses to decide the order of
treatment of a large number of patients
93. ACTS 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit
comes on you; and you will be my witnesses first
in Jerusalem, and then in all Judea and Samaria,
and then to the ends of the earth.
94. ACTS 1:8

either in Jerusalem, or in all Judea and Samaria,
or to the ends of the earth.

98. Romans 10:13-15
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in?
And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not
heard?
And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
And how can they preach unless they are sent?”
99. Beautiful Feet?
Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of
those who bring good news of good things!”

As full-time workers sometimes it feels like we are the 22 players on the field and that the rest of the Body of Christ is in spectator mode. The task remaining is so huge and important that we need the time talent and treasure of the whole Church engaged on behalf of God’s mission.
“We need the Whole Church to bring the Whole Gospel to the Whole World”
To understand the role of mobilizers, think of World War II as a parallel. Only 10 percent of the American population went to the war. Of those, only 1 percent were actually on the firing lines. However, for them to be successful in their mission, the entire country had to be mobilized!
Presupposition: a disciple is not truly a disciple unless that person is obeying the commands of Christ. “If you love me you will obey my commands” One of those “commands” is the great commission! Therefore all true disciples will be playing an active role in reaching the world for Christ as a prayer welcomer, sender, goer, mobilizer etc.
So every discipler should understand that a central part of their job is not only to help the disciple grow in health and wholeness but also to help that disciple (from day one) to find their role in world evangelization.
This is mobilization!
Discipleship = Mobilization
Mobilizers build bridges between the Church and the unreached
Are we willing to be the path… the stones that others step on as they walk into their callings?
The example of Barnabas style apostleship.
Imagine yourself seeing a huge, raging fire in the distance. You could run to get a bucket, fill it with water, run to the blaze, and dump water. Then you could run again and dump more water on the fire. And again, and again. But perhaps, on first seeing the danger of the fire, you could run and wake up one hundred sleeping firemen—who would do at least a hundred times what you could have done yourself.
As full-time workers sometimes it feels like we are the 22 players on the field and that the rest of the Body of Christ is in spectator mode. The task remaining is so huge and important that we need the time talent and treasure of the whole Church engaged on behalf of God’s mission.
“We need the Whole Church to bring the Whole Gospel to the Whole World”
All countries are senders. All countries are mission fields.
Strategy is an overall plan that works to prioritize (triage) & integrate all tactics…
Never use the word “strategic” to mean value
Every soul is created in the image of God... “equally lost but perhaps not equally needy”
Every part of the Body of Christ is equally important just different functions
If unlimited resources then everybody do everything to everybody everywhere
If limited resources then we must prioritize and integrate for deep long lasting impact
Why can’t it be a value statement?... because we are the body of Christ & every soul is of equal value created in the image of God. one salvation is NOT more important that another
Other notable missionary senders included South Africa, the Philippines, Mexico, China, Colombia, and Nigeria.
It’s a new day! It seems that we will speak less and less of the “mission field” and of “sending countries.” All countries are senders. All countries are mission fields.
A historical example of a missions mobilization movement.
Great but were they qualified to do that without field experience? They eventually traveled all over the world. In fact, they gained a more comprehensive view of global needs than was possible for any one missionary.
Mott could plan and lead the 1910 meeting at Edinburgh in a way no missionary was qualified to do. That meant that they were qualified to stay - if only because they were willing to go! Note, however, if they had not been willing to go they would not have been spiritually qualified to stay. Why? Because those who are not willing to stay, if that is God's will, are not-and cannot-be qualified to go!
Congregations which have set their heart on other things need a heart transplant! How would you like to have a heart transplant done by an untrained person? Unthinkable!
Transplanting a heart is too important to leave to an untrained person. But, the task of reaching the nations is the most important task which God has assigned to His Church.
And this requires transplanting a heart of vision and understanding in order to do it right.
Both the preachers and the senders have the beautiful feet

Many people unthinkingly equate "missions" with missionaries.
Mobilization has a dark side. Mobilization can be done from a place of deep frustration and judgment of people and communities largely clueless about God’s unchanging purpose to bless every nation tribe and tongue with the opportunity to accept relationship with Himself through His son.
Both trees looked good… but one brings life and the other death
There is a book for sale called “Love Jesus, Hate Church’ Do you see a problem with this?
The only long term positive transformational agent on the planet is the gospel through the Church. Every other force is external. Force, money and even religion are all external pressures that only bring temporary change. The “Church” is the hope of the world
The root problem is not things like a lack of resources but rather worldview (what people believe)
Mobilization is to the reached what evangelism is to the unreached
In the broadest sense, it can be just about anything… answers to almost any question, information about anything that interests me,
learning a useful skill,
something to laugh at
Rather than thinking of mobilizing an entire community it may be helpful to
