The River of Peace Campaign (RoPC) is an initiative environment division of GPF – Nepal
A network and a mission of innovative and responsible individuals, families, clubs, societies and organizations committed and dedicated to restoring in-city rivers
Presently RoPC through its various approaches and activities is focused in maintaining clean flowing Bagmati River
Present Scenario
Ritual bathing is almost a dream of the devotees and pilgrims because of pollution
Biologically the river is dead facing environmental and ecological threats
Direct disposal of untreated sewerage into the river, uncontrolled sand mining, improper solid waste disposal, rapid construction of industries, uncontrolled squatters settlement has exaggerate the problem further more
Ongoing Efforts
Weekly Bagmati Cleaning at its 97th week and in continuum with Massive Participation of government bodies, NGOs, CBOs, corporate houses, hundreds of individuals and other stakeholders
Approximately 1000 Metric Ton of Non-degradable solid waste has been collected from the banks of the Bagmati river and disposed properly at the appropriate dumping site
High level of long term Strategic Planning is being developed at government level with the participation of the concerned stakeholders not only to clean the Bagmati River but also to Save The Bagmati Civilization as a whole

Presentation on the Environmental Awareness and training on the Solid Waste Management and Vermi-composting has been given to more than 3,000 participants

More than 3000 people have participated in the discussion forum. Total of 44 sessions were launched inviting 54 resource persons renowned in the field of their sectors.
