2. Research on Refugees in America and Georgia
Between 1990 and 2013, the population of immigrants in America has grown 5.2
percent and the number of unauthorized immigrants has nearly tripled.
In 2014, 69,986 people seeked refuge in America and 2,694 just in Georgia alone.
Every year this number grows more as conflicts in other countries displace their
citizens.

5. Our Ice Cream Fundraiser for Refugees
Several weeks ago, the ice cream fundraiser was proposed by several seniors
and has since become a reality that has raised money to donate to a refugee
program here in Georgia.
6. Sadiyyah has been one of the instrumental
people in starting the ice cream fundraiser here
at Academe. For several Friday's, she and
several other seniors have sold ice cream at
lunch to benefit our cause.
7. Creating a Poster to Raise Awareness in Our
Community
After our fundraiser was in place, we decided that we would raise awareness about refugees by
posting posters around our school and in the city where our school is, Decatur.
8. The final product that you see here was beautifully
designed, hand drawn, and detailed by several
members of our Global Nomad Group and will soon
be posted around our community.
