departments.
2. RF Engineer - Sprint/Nextel Inc. Feb. 2000 – Apr. ‘08
Responsible for CDMA and EVDO wireless service (design and optimization) in the Denver, Fort Collins
and Colorado Springs markets.
Design:
• Worked on in building system from the initial signal measurement up to setting up repeater to
have enhanced in building coverage.
• Handled the design and optimization of new cell sites in the entire Denver Sprint market.
• Utilized Planet EV to find solution for existing trouble spots to improve the overall performance
of the network.
• Performed variety of fieldwork, including RF evaluation for future Sprint PCS retail stores and
collected drive data to assist in optimization or to clarify customer issues.
• Performed PRL (preferred roaming list) test for the market.
• Performed CW test for candidate selection of future sites.
• Participated on market level Model Tuning.
Performance:
• Able to perform continuous monitoring of an existing network’s performance to maximize
network quality.
• Integrated and optimized new cell site.
• Conducted hand-off analysis and made changes to the Neighbor list.
• Worked on Neighbor list tuning for the entire Denver market.
• Checked PN conflicts up to three tiers and worked for fix.
• Worked on multi-carrier optimization to improve hand-offs and add capacity.
• Handled Clarify customer trouble ticket and responded on time.
• Used PCMD tool (per call measurement date) to accurately estimate where the sector is dropping
and blocking a call.
• Performed a variety of fieldwork, including RF evaluations for future Sprint PCS retail stores.
This included collecting drive data and analyzing data, assisting optimization and resolving
customer issues.
• Processed drive data in detail to identify trouble areas and determine the exact cause of drops or
blocks in order to better identify possible solutions.
• Monitored network statistics proactively to identify trouble sites based on performance and/or
capacity problems.
• After identifying trouble spots, helped determine potential fixes (physical antenna modifications
or swaps, parameter changes, new repeater, or new site).
• Tested 1X EV-Do Rev 0 and Rev A throughput in the Denver Market. Participated in Q-Chat
testing and analyzing.
Capacity:
• Helped on preparing monthly JIT (just in time) CE (Channel Element) cards to resolve capacity
issue.
• Analyzed Capacity reports to plan for further capacity adjustments.
New site acceptance Testing.
• Check azimuth if it matches according to the design specification.
• Check for no obstruction closer to the antennas.
3. • Check sweep tests
• Measured GPS site location
• Measured total power which comes out of the antennas.
• Making sure the sectors hand off to each other
• Measured Ec/Io
• Measured EVDO data throughput closer to the sites.
AWARDS AND CERTIFICATIONS
• Sprint Excellence Award for successful Market PRI (Preferred Roaming List) test.
• Spring Excellence Award for Behavior, Customer Focus and Demonstrating Integrity.
