1. === Short CV ===
I studied Biomedical Engineering in Pavia (Italy), focusing during my two thesis works on automated
speech recognition systems for home health care and mathematical models for FRAP analysis.
Following from my master thesis, I moved more towards Biology during my PhD joining Marino
Zerial's group at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics in Dresden
(Germany). There I worked on image analysis methods for high-throughput screen analysis with
applications to membrane trafficking and tissue organization.
After spending almost 6 years in the bright field of Fluorescence imaging, I switched to the dark side
of sequencing joining the Balasubramanian group at the CRUK-CI in Cambridge (UK). I worked here
as computational biologist on DNA base modifications (5-formyl-C), on the transcription factor
FOXM1, on DNA double-strand breaks and more recently on the identification and characterization
of G-quadruplexes at the genomic and transcriptomic level.
