This will be a 12-week psycho-educational group. Each week a new topic
about codependency will be presented and talked about. The purpose of this
group is to educate clients about how growing up in a dysfunctional family
causes people to struggle with the five core issues of codependency: self-
esteem, speaking and listening boundaries, struggles to own one’s reality,
difficulty identifying needs and wants, and moderation in thoughts,
feelings, and behaviors. This group will examine how the past impacts the
present in great detail. Topics to be covered in order include:
What is Codependency/Conditioned Defenses
Overview of Developmental Immaturity Issues
Five Core Issues of Codependency
What is Child Abuse?
Dynamics of Carried Shame
Self Esteem and Boundaries
Roles We Play/Relationship Templates
