Weight...
What brings this picture together is not only the fact that the two halves of the picture are symmetrical but also that opposite colours are used giving it balance.
In this picture weight is shown by the order the siblings were arranged in and the dogs on either side creating a harmonious balance.
Although this sculpture is not symmetrical, it is brought together with a common feel of organic curvilinear lines as to not look out of proportion, an all-round even weigh.
Radial Balance
Radial is when you have a centre point and everything expands from there. In this case, first sight one notices the face, there after the branches and trees. Not a typical spiral but in my opinion still same effect.
In this picture you clearly have the tree as the centre focal point, then the light grabs your eye and pulls it out as it goes from lighter to darker in a rounded manner.
Typical example here, you have the centre point of the flower, present by a darker spot. From there it is an outward effect. As it gets drawn past the centre, the petals give even more effect drawing it out with vertical line.
PrOpoRtion......
With proportion comes the ability to distort our perceptions of things, making things feel bigger than they are or the ability to compare the vast sizes of things to the back space. In this picture the proportion seems out in comparison to the proportions of the human body, torso vs legs.
In this example you can see the vast size of he white structure in comparison to the surrounding buildings.
Here one can get the idea as to how tiny the puppy really is considering the fact that the size comparison is a bread roll and hand.
RepetitionRepetitionRepetition
In this situation I find repetition in the rows of people sitting and background, people standing. Not the typical example but my opinion stands.
Here we see repetition in design. All along the staircase and balcony the same curvature design is repeated giving it a ‘theme’.
This painting shows repetition through its organic lines. The background lines aswel as the stance of the people figures.Vertical curvature lines are present.
Dominance.
In this picture i find that there is way to much going on. The arms and legs going in all different direction creating confusion in line order. One has to search for a focal point which in this case may differ per individual. There is nothing drawing you to a specific. Chaos and lack of order and pattern. Nothing dominating.
With the element of Dominance there is usually a focal point with something drawing your attention towards it. Here we don’t so much notice the train or railway line, more the fact that your eyes are lead by them to the mountains.
In this interior design picture your eye follows the green strip on the ceiling down half the wall to the couch area, almost as if it were an arrow pointing to where you should be looking. It also adds detail to the room as if it were a mounted painting. Without it the room would be close to bland. May possibly also make the room look longer in the fact that it is a vertical line ( depending on which way you look at it  )
Contrast....
In contrast there is a use of light and dark, as shown in this picture. It also creates depth. As you can see the figure is darker than the rest of the image pushing it forwards creating a focal point of a drawing which is of a particular colour scheme. It seems to me that this drawing has different shading styles, the background shading is ‘looser’ than the figure, which is more ‘coloured in’ .
Here cleaver use of contrast is shown where different images are present in one (small and large) by the use of light and dark tones. This is a battle of soft vs hard.
I think this is a perfect example to try and explain contrast. You can clearly see that as the colours get lighter the image seems to retreat creating depth.
DIReCTIoN
Direction pairs up with movement. We see movement here by the way she is ‘throwing’ her head to the side the direction her hair is moving but what i find most amusing about this picture is that it looks like she is the only one (thing) with motion. It looks as if the bubbles are fixed and not going anywhere.
To me this bridge mimics a wave motion with its curvilinear lines and repetition.
Here not only do we get a feel of direction and movement but also speed, created by the repetition of vertical hazy lines.
Harmony
Complete opposite to chaos. Settling light colours and peaceful feeling.
The symmetry here gives a harmonious feeling as well as the fact that the arch window in the background draws focus to the couple in the picture.
Although there isn’t any symmetry in this picture it still has a blissful and free spirited feeling to it as though the person in this picture doesn’t have a care in the world. Very harmonious and ‘relaxing’.
VarietyVarietyVarietyVariety
Variety is self explanatory, it’s pretty much exactly as it sounds. In this situation she has a variety of materials and textures in her outfit, surprisingly not clashing completely.
Here we have the same object in a variety of different sizes and colours.
This neck piece is way to chaotic. There is to much going on, to many varieties of beads and accessories. It's harsh and ‘in your face’
Symbolic meaning .....
This painting has symbolic meaning, It’s portraying a story. I figure it’s about death. An angel taking the life of the aged man.
In today's world the cross pendant has no specific meaning to many people yet in the past it was portrayed as religion.
Once again this symbolic meaning relates to religion , Buddhism. is a religion and philosophy encompassing a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices.
