consists of a transmitter and a receiver. And the transmitter is put beside

Yeah, that can happen. Actually a neighbor 2 doors down said she heard my
husband singing to Alexis one night. Weird.

   A better baby monitor?
We got the Fisher Price Lights and Sounds monitor for Olivia at my shower…..up until
Olivia was 7 months she slept in her Pack and Play with us so we didn’t really use it. To be honest I
hate this monitor. It buzzes horribly, makes a screeching sound when I go in her room, and the plug
connection falls out of the monitor part so easily. I can also hear everything thats going on at my
neighbors 2 doors down…they have a child as well.
Olivia is 10 months and I would like to get a good new monitor thats not too pricey. Any
   suggestions?

We’ve been really happy with this one:

We live in the city, in an apartment full of electronics and it picks up *nothing*. We’ve had it
for nine months. I really have only good things to say except that the rechargeables it
came with were junk. But once I bought my own set we’ve had no issues.

Voltage rating for Fisher Price baby monitor?
If anyone out there owns a Fisher Price Private Connection baby monitor (or for that
matter any other baby monitor by Fisher Price), could you let me know what the voltage rating for the
AC adaptor is? I’m presently in the USA, and as such am looking for a monitor that runs at 120V,
60Hz, but I may be moving to India in a year or so where the AC power is 230V, 50Hz.
   Thanks.

Most of the Fisher Price models are 120V, 60Hz. The Fisher Price Surround
Sounds and lights adapter is 120V, 60Hz, 7W.
             Hope this helps,

Will two different baby monitors in the same house cause them to have lots of static and
basically not work?
I still have a monitor in my three year old’s room- I believe it’s called a Fisher Price Lights and
Sounds monitor and it only has two channels to choose from. We’re expecting another baby in a
couple of months and I will obviously need another monitor in the baby’s room (which is right
across the hall). I would like to know if anyone has any experience with having two monitors in the
same house and if they interfere with each other so much (static, etc.) that they are useless.
Thanks!

They only interfere with each other if they are on the same frequency. You will
have to buy another monitor that has two channels to switch back and forth
with. Leave one on one channel and the other on a different, otherwise yes they will
          interfere.

Bad reception with Fisher Price Baby Monitors. Anyone else?
We’ve had these monitors since our twins were newborn. We’ve always heard funny
background noises, and know its not coming from thier room. When I have thier monitor on in thier
room, and the receiver turned on elsewhere in the house, I can hear music playing, a tv going and
other people talking. Now, unless the kids are having a crib party that I’m not aware of, this is pretty
strange. When we lived at our other house, I could hear another mother talking and playing with her
baby in the middle of the night. Anyone else have bad reception with these monitors?
Nope, sorry no ghosts, unless they are following me from one location to another. Don’t live in an
apt. building, but there are other people around us who have children, so its probably them I’m
picking up. I’ll try turning the channel to see if that works. Thanks!

I’ve had the same problems. Try turning it to a different channel, they usually
have 2 to pick from. Also, It will freak out if next to my cell phone, especially if I
get a phone call. I will know I get a call from the monitor before my phone actually rings!

Best baby monitor out there?
Right now we have Fisher Price’s Sounds & Lights monitor but we keep picking up our
neighbors’ sounds, even on different channels.
We want a ‘closed’ monitor where we will not pick up anything. Price not an issue. Any
suggestions? TIA!
I guess I wasn’t very clear, I’m looking for some kind of monitor that is closed-circuit, zero
interference.

looking for a baby monitor?
I am looking for a baby monitor that will work best in my situation.
It will be used in a 2 story townhouse and only for nap times when he is sleeping upstairs and I am
downstairs. I don’t need it to work outside b/c we don’t have a yard. It needs to work with wireless
internet without static interference. I am not interested in a motion mat or video. I’d like to find a
good one that is relatively inexpensive.
We bought a fisher price one but it has too much static.

You will find static on all that are analog — just to varying degrees. Digital
monitors aren’t prone to interference like analog monitors are. So, digital ones
don’t get interference from other devices.
I’ve had two monitors that I really like … one digital and one analog.
The digital one is by Safety First. It had no static interference, good battery life and good
          range:
          http://www.walmart.com/ip/Safety-1st-High-Definition-Digital-Nursery-Monitor/8342864
The analog one is Sony Baby Call. It does have static, but it has “noise sensing
technology” so when the level of ambient noise in the room is constant it shuts off — so
you hear absolutely nothing. When the noise changes (ie: your baby crying, moving
around etc) it will turn on. It also has 27 channels to choose from so you are likely to find
one with minimal static interference. And, because it shuts off you won’t hear any noise
coming from the monitor when your baby is asleep.

It depends on what model you get. Different models have different ranges. I do
not like them personally. We’ve had to buy 2 of them for our daughter. The first
one gave out about 10 months. The second one I got the one with 4 channels instead fo 2
and I still get interference on it all the time. I’m pregnant with #2 and I am not going to get
a Fisher Price monitor this time.

Probably not. Baby monitors work on three different frequency bands, and even
withing the same band use different channels and different ways of matching
          up to each other.

Do ALL baby monitors produce static throughout the day?
I had a basic Safety First baby monitor. I think it cost all of $18 USD. Every night it would
go through these spasms of 10 minutes of nothing except static. I would unplug everything that did
not need to be plugged in to help stop it but it didn’t.
The other day I bought a Fisher-price Lights & Sounds baby monitor for about $ 40 USD. It seems to
be working well but it ALSO produces a TON of static. I have tried it on both channels…still goes
through spasms.
Has this happened to anyone else? Or is there something with the electrical system in my
apartment?
Blue- That is SO creepy and very weird that you picked that up! LOL

I have the same Fisher Price monitor that you do. It is ALWAYS staticy, but from
my understanding, all monitors are. Oh, and if you keep a cell phone too close
to it, it makes funky screechy sort of noises. I just turn a fan on at night for “white noise”
and I don’t really notice the static anymore.

That’s the one I have and I’ve got no complaints about it. They’re complaining
about static, but we haven’t run into that problem. We use it in the room next-
door and usually rooms upstairs. We can tell when her sound-machine is off, when it’s
just the aquarium and humidifier running, or when everything is up and going normally.
It’s quite sensitive and we’ve never had issue with static interfering.
I’d say try it. If you don’t like it or it doesn’t work well, then take it back. No loss there. They
won’t get after you for opening it and trying it out and then bringing it back if it doesn’t work
          out.

Baby monitor help?
I am having some trouble with our baby monitor. It is a Fisher-Price Private Connection
Dual Monitor. They are nice mointors you can change the channel and all of that. Ours keeps
making this cracking noise like every 5 mintues or so. It came with two monitors and both of them
are doing it.
Do you think its a problem with the receiver or interference or something? We have tried changing
the channel already. Has anyone had this problem? These monitors are only 7 months old.

We have this problem. They are very sensitive, and respond to phones being
turned on and off, microwaves, etc. If you can, try the Graco imonitor, or
whatever it is. I have a friend with that one and its crystal clear.

What kinds of baby monitors are available for deaf parents?
I’ve looked a little bit online and found a monitoring system where you basically hook your
whole house into this receiver (phone, doorbell, alarm clock, baby monitor etc) that comes with light
functions and a vibrating disk to put under the mattress. The baby monitor is sold separately and
can be hooked up either way also. Together, all of this costs about $225-250. Do they have cheaper
systems? In the 2 years that my husband and I have been together, we’ve never really seen the
need to get anything like this for the phone and such…and since we have an apartment, we don’t
have a doorbell anyway.
Reason being – my husband is hearing impaired and we’re thinking of having a baby in the next
year and a half or so…I just want to be prepared. I don’t think the little Fisher Price monitors that
vibrate would be strong enough to wake him if I was at work…

I have a Phillips Avent digital baby monitor, it’s a little pricey but you get no static
since it’s digital. It is awesome, tells you the temperature in the baby’s room
          and plays lullabies, etc.

I need a new Baby Monitor..Which one?
Right now, we have the fisher price lights & sound monitor. It is in the process of dying.

Aubree is 14 1/2 months old. I was thinking about NOT buying another one but her bedroom is on
the other side of the house and if she were to cry at night, we would barely hear and it certainly
would not wake us!
So, what do you recommend? Links are appreciated!

I have a Fisher Price monitor. I’m honestly not sure which one. It was a gift from
my sister. It’s the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever owned and I’ve only owned it for
4 months!! It looks nice and everything and if it worked the way it’s supposed to it would
be an awesome monitor, but it loses signal way too easily, the picture is horrible, and if
it’s not on the charger it dies within an hour. I hate it. I wouldn’t recommend this monitor to
my worst enemy. And it sounds like if yours had died already, then Fisher Price is not a
very good monitor brand. I would stay away from that particular brand. My sister is still
using the same monitor with my nephew since he was born and he’ll be 3 years old in
July. I wish I knew what brand it was. Sorry I wasn’t more help. My only advice to anyone is
stay away from Fisher Price baby monitors!!

You can ignore the 350 mAh – you can get one with higher.
The important part is SIZE (like AA, C, etc.), and 3.6 V

I still have a monitor in my three year old’s room- I believe it’s called a Fisher Price Lights and Sounds monitor and it only has two channels to choose from. We’re expecting another baby in a couple of months and I will obviously need another monitor in the baby’s room (which is right across the hall). When I have thier monitor on in thier room, and the receiver turned on elsewhere in the house, I can hear music playing, a tv going and other people talking. Now, unless the kids are having a crib party that I’m not aware of, this is pretty strange. When we lived at our other house, I could hear another mother talking and playing with her baby in the middle of the night. Anyone else have bad reception with these monitors? Nope, sorry no ghosts, unless they are following me from one location to another. Reply Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?: May 29, 2012 at 1:15 pm (Edit) You will find static on all that are analog — just to varying degrees. Digital monitors aren’t prone to interference like analog monitors are. So, digital ones don’t get interference from other devices.
  • 4. I’ve had two monitors that I really like … one digital and one analog. The digital one is by Safety First. It had no static interference, good battery life and good range: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Safety-1st-High-Definition-Digital-Nursery-Monitor/8342864 The analog one is Sony Baby Call. It does have static, but it has “noise sensing technology” so when the level of ambient noise in the room is constant it shuts off — so you hear absolutely nothing. When the noise changes (ie: your baby crying, moving around etc) it will turn on. It also has 27 channels to choose from so you are likely to find one with minimal static interference. And, because it shuts off you won’t hear any noise coming from the monitor when your baby is asleep. http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Call-Nursery-Monitor- Channel/dp/B000S35QLC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=baby- products&qid=1268509500&sr=8-1 Reply stephanie o: April 7, 2012 at 1:28 am (Edit) what is the range of a fisher price baby monitor? Baby monitors work on three different frequency bands, and even withing the same band use different channels and different ways of matching up to each other. Reply Anonymous: April 15, 2012 at 5:24 pm (Edit) Do ALL baby monitors produce static throughout the day? I had a basic Safety First baby monitor. I think it cost all of $18 USD. Every night it would go through these spasms of 10 minutes of nothing except static. I would unplug everything that did not need to be plugged in to help stop it but it didn’t. The other day I bought a Fisher-price Lights & Sounds baby monitor for about $ 40 USD. It seems to be working well but it ALSO produces a TON of static. I have tried it on both channels…still goes through spasms. Has this happened to anyone else? Or is there something with the electrical system in my apartment? Blue- That is SO creepy and very weird that you picked that up! LOL Reply PYT_Trisha: May 29, 2012 at 4:32 pm (Edit) I have the same Fisher Price monitor that you do. It is ALWAYS staticy, but from my understanding, all monitors are. Oh, and if you keep a cell phone too close to it, it makes funky screechy sort of noises. I just turn a fan on at night for “white noise” and I don’t really notice the static anymore. • 5. Courage: April 29, 2012 at 5:08 pm (Edit) That’s the one I have and I’ve got no complaints about it. They’re complaining about static, but we haven’t run into that problem. We use it in the room next- door and usually rooms upstairs. We can tell when her sound-machine is off, when it’s just the aquarium and humidifier running, or when everything is up and going normally. It’s quite sensitive and we’ve never had issue with static interfering. I’d say try it. If you don’t like it or it doesn’t work well, then take it back. No loss there. They won’t get after you for opening it and trying it out and then bringing it back if it doesn’t work out. Reply Nicole R: April 17, 2012 at 7:08 pm (Edit) Baby monitor help? I am having some trouble with our baby monitor. It is a Fisher-Price Private Connection Dual Monitor. They are nice mointors you can change the channel and all of that. Ours keeps making this cracking noise like every 5 mintues or so. It came with two monitors and both of them are doing it. Do you think its a problem with the receiver or interference or something? We have tried changing the channel already. Has anyone had this problem? These monitors are only 7 months old. Reply Anonymous: May 25, 2012 at 12:27 am (Edit) We have this problem. They are very sensitive, and respond to phones being turned on and off, microwaves, etc. If you can, try the Graco imonitor, or whatever it is. I have a friend with that one and its crystal clear. Reply candy177: May 1, 2012 at 3:13 am (Edit) What kinds of baby monitors are available for deaf parents? I’ve looked a little bit online and found a monitoring system where you basically hook your whole house into this receiver (phone, doorbell, alarm clock, baby monitor etc) that comes with light functions and a vibrating disk to put under the mattress. The baby monitor is sold separately and can be hooked up either way also. Together, all of this costs about $225-250. Do they have cheaper systems? In the 2 years that my husband and I have been together, we’ve never really seen the need to get anything like this for the phone and such…and since we have an apartment, we don’t have a doorbell anyway. Reason being – my husband is hearing impaired and we’re thinking of having a baby in the next year and a half or so…I just want to be prepared. I don’t think the little Fisher Price monitors that vibrate would be strong enough to wake him if I was at work… Reply sissynoodle: May 21, 2012 at 9:08 pm (Edit) Try this website http://www.alldeaf.com. Reply Avick: May 2, 2012 at 8:41 pm (Edit) What is the best baby monitor to buy? I have a fisher price baby monitor and it sucks all I hear is static I would love to find one that is alot clearer. Reply Artie Lange Fan: May 7, 2012 at 2:03 pm (Edit) I have a Phillips Avent digital baby monitor, it’s a little pricey but you get no static since it’s digital. It is awesome, tells you the temperature in the baby’s room and plays lullabies, etc. Reply Happy Girl: May 6, 2012 at 5:34 am (Edit) where can i find reviews on baby items? about to buy the fisher price baby monitor … need to hear reviews on it (holding baby … sorry bout lower case. Reply a heart so big: May 12, 2012 at 11:44 pm (Edit) I would try Amazon. They usually have more reviews and more detailed reviews. Reply Aubree's Mommy♥: May 13, 2012 at 5:29 pm (Edit) I need a new Baby Monitor..Which one? Right now, we have the fisher price lights & sound monitor. It is in the process of dying. Aubree is 14 1/2 months old. I was thinking about NOT buying another one but her bedroom is on the other side of the house and if she were to cry at night, we would barely hear and it certainly would not wake us!
  • 6. So, what do you recommend? Links are appreciated! Reply Anonymous: May 23, 2012 at 9:00 pm (Edit) I have a Fisher Price monitor. I’m honestly not sure which one. It was a gift from my sister. It’s the biggest piece of crap I’ve ever owned and I’ve only owned it for 4 months!! It looks nice and everything and if it worked the way it’s supposed to it would be an awesome monitor, but it loses signal way too easily, the picture is horrible, and if it’s not on the charger it dies within an hour. I hate it. I wouldn’t recommend this monitor to my worst enemy. And it sounds like if yours had died already, then Fisher Price is not a very good monitor brand. I would stay away from that particular brand. My sister is still using the same monitor with my nephew since he was born and he’ll be 3 years old in July. I wish I knew what brand it was. Sorry I wasn’t more help. My only advice to anyone is stay away from Fisher Price baby monitors!! Reply notoriousbob3105: May 16, 2012 at 1:53 am (Edit) does anyone know where i can get a replacement battery for my baby monitor? its labeled ni-cd aaa350mah 3.6v.? Fisher-Price Dual Private Connection Monitor Reply TV guy: May 19, 2012 at 12:07 am (Edit) Try the Web http://www.batteryspace.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=215 You can ignore the 350 mAh – you can get one with higher. The important part is SIZE (like AA, C, etc.), and 3.6 V Reply worldwarme1013: May 19, 2012 at 3:45 am (Edit) Has anyone tried the Fisher Price – Long Distance 900MHz Nursery Monitor? I’m trying to find a good but not expensive baby monitor and I found this one at walmart online and I was wondering if anyone else has this or tried it so I know if I should try it or not.
