ACTIVITY REPORT - April 2023
I.C Francesco Riso Isola delle Femmine Italy
Reference number: 2022-1-RO01-KA220- SCH-000085644
2. The proposed activity involved 30 middle school students 2nd Class, and 2 teachers. Some students had
knowledge of the game and acted as “tutor” for those who approached it for the first time. The result was
unexpected, even the kids with disabilities showed interest and managed to find their space in the game.
The activity was organized in several steps:
1 - looking for the origins of the name and the history of the game;
2 - the pieces- the names and the movements of all the pieces;
(great importance had the movement of the knight and
the queen-students like it very much)
3 - the white set and the black set – the board;
4 - start of the game and function of the pawns;
5 - start of the game;
6 – strategies;
7 - what does "cheek" mean;
8 - the game;
9 – checkmate.
Some of them were surprised to know that the knight only eats at the end of its movement and not the
pawns it encounters, but in the end they were all very happy to have understood this game.
In this game, which clearly shows itself to be interdisciplinary and which involves different parts of our
being, there was also time to insert some mathematics. Some students designed their own board by
measuring perfectly the size of squares and using rulers and pencing. But many played on line with
individual play – they had the opportunity to challenge their partner and also the computer.
CHESS – EXERCISE OF LIFE
4. THEATER – AN EXPRESSION OF CREATIVITY, FREEDOM AND
INTERDISCIPLINARITY
(THEATRE LESSON AND MUSIC - FALSTAFF BY G. VERDI)
Moments of socialization and inclusive
