How did you attract/address your audience?
Through the use of the storyline We believed that the storyline to our film would attract most young audiences. The storyline is based around a psychological stalker who is obsessed with a young female character. The storyline is also based around the lives of young adults and their everyday lives. For example, in the opening of our film we show a party scene, a scene which represents problems between a young couple, and even a scene which represents jealously amongst friends, all things which will relate to most young people.
Through the use of props The props used in the opening of the film are also used to attract audiences. The clothes being worn in the opening are very trendy and casual representing their age. Along with this props such as cigarettes, lighters, and bottles of alcohol are used to show that they are young people having a good time and socialising at a party. Props such as mirrors are used to show young peoples vanity and to highlight the issue of the importance to look good. Yet again all of these things will attract young audiences as they will be able to relate to these particular props.
Through the use of locations The main filming location in the opening of our film is a house which is used for a party scene. We know that house parties are extremely popular amongst young people and therefore we believed that this would be a perfect location for our filming, in order to attract the younger audiences.
Audience Feedback In order to gather audience feedback we posted our final piece on Facebook and asked people 4 questions. We believed that it would be a good idea to post these questions on Facebook as we wanted to gather feedback from our target audience – young adults. The 4 main questions we asked were: 1. What genre did you believe our film was? And why? 2. Did this appeal to you? 3. Can u briefly explain what our film was about? 4. Would you like to watch the rest of the movie? Why or Why not? From the feedback we gathered we found that most people thought it was a horror however one person thought it may have been a thriller. We also found that it appealed to all of the people we asked. We were happy to find that everyone understood that the film was about a stalker and his obsession. Finally everyone asked would be anxious to watch the rest of the film, meaning that it appealed greatly to this young audience.
Feedback from Facebook
Feedback from YouTube Hannah Lenane- I feel that the music was successful, it suits the film genre well. I also think that you have made interesting and artistic use of mise-en-scene, props and camera shots/angles. Finally, although I feel that the transition between each shot is smooth, some of the fades last a little too long between shots.. Also on occasion there is still a little sound left in where it shouldn't be? e.g. people talking in the background. But overall a successful and effective piece of work :) Lucy Daley- I think this has been done very well, and looks extremely effective. The music builds up tension and works well for the horror genre. The props used highlights the fact that these characters are young people and therefore appeals to me. Along with this, the storyline is exciting and at the end of the opening of your film I wanted to watch the rest of the film! Altogether your opening was very successful, I enjoyed it a lot!
Feedback from YouTube Here is a link to show the reactions of a small representative group of our target audience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e1h9bYIH1uU
Evaluation of our feedback- Overall, I believe that most of our feedback responses are quite positive. The comments we received when we posted our video on Facebook showed that the film appealed to our target audience and many of them where intrigued to see what would happen next. All of the people who gave us feedback understood that it was a horror film and it was about a stalkers obsession. Other things such as the props and music also attracted our target audience as they could relate to particular things such as the clothing they were wearing. Therefore, I think our group was extremely successful in attracting our target audience based on our feedback.

How did you attract audience media

  • 1. How did you attract/address your audience?
