INTRODUCTION More than a half of the world population lives nowadays in cities and for the year 2050 is expected that this population increase more than 75%, but in which type of cities we will live in the future? It is said by the experts that “now is the moment” for start building smarter urban spaces. New cities should harbour a greater population and the cities that we live right now should be modernized.
  3. 3. WHAT IS IT A SMART CITY? A developed urban area that creates sustainable economic development and high quality life by excelling in multiple key areas: • Economy. • Mobility. • Environment. • People. • Living. • Government. Excelling in these key areas can be done so through strong human capital, social capital, and/or ICT infrastructure.

S Stimulate innovations in governments urban solutions, replicating worldwide the smart city projects. S Promote the participation of global population in lighthouse International projects of smart cities. S Promote the internationalization of local companies and third world commerce for work in an international and equal commerce the smart cities market. S Enhance the creation of new companies in the smart cities market, supporting urban entrepreneurship. S Evaluate the impact of smart city projects on wealth creation, jobs generation, environment quality and citizens’ quality of life. S Contribute to increase the local content of foreign investments projects linked to smart growth. S Increase the participation of international companies in global knowledge and commercial networks.

So a future city will be… • More green spaces will be created and renewable energy will take advantage. • The citizens will take part on the government decisions, by coming up with solutions. • The technological innovations will allow the increase of the quality of life of the citizens. • It will be encouraged business strategies for create new business opportunities for the new entrepreneurs. Moreover it will be financed the new entrepreneurs business. • The sustainability will be managed in a more efficient way, as well as the public transport, the mobility and the pollutants resources management initiatives.
