This exhibition, hosted by Guyâs & St. Thomasâ
Charity, displays work from the Placemaking
Unit â an âideas-basedâ unit embedded within
the MA Interior and Spatial Design course at
Chelsea College of Arts. The interdisciplinary Unit
was first established in 2013, with the remit of
exploring placemaking as a creative strategy: a set
of transferable design and creative tools that can
be applied to a variety of sites and conditions. This
reflects the importance of negotiating context as an
essential strategy for interior and spatial designers.
The exhibition is of work generated by the 2015-16
MA ISD cohort.
The Hospital Placemaking Group provides a
context for students from different cultural
backgrounds to ground their research and studio
practice in a way that addresses ârealâ healthcare
issues or situations.

A preparation area can help to decrease
doctorsâ mistakes and stress. The project
explores how general medicine doctors
can prepare themselves (rebirth) physically
and mentally to work. Burnout is mental
and physical fatigue. In order to reduce
this syndrome, this project considers the
importance of preparation rituals for mental
and physical relaxation for general medicine
doctors in hospital practice. The architecture
concept is the airlock. In this project, this
term symbolises a metaphor for change in
mental pressure from stress to achieving a
state of concentration.

Edutainment is the concept for a new sports
club by Technogym . It is very important
that the time spent to care of our body is
educational and entertaining at the same time.
Two different paths are suggested depending
on the user: who is user of gym and who is
not yet. The Materials and the finishing used
for the gym project will recall a naturalistic
environmentt.
