12. MODE OFACTION OF DRUGS
Mode of action of TAMIFLU:
Oseltamivir inhibits the neuraminidase enzyme, which is expressed on the viral surface. The
enzyme promotes release of virus from infected cells and facilitates viral movement within the
respiratory tract.
Mode of action of Relenza:
Zanamivir works by binding to the active site of neuraminidase protein, rendering the influenza
virus unable to escape its host cell and others. It also inhibitor of influenza virus in vitro and in
vivo.

13. MODE OFACTION OF DRUGS
Mode of action of Clavam:
Amoxicillin binds to penicillin binding proteins within the bacterial cell wall and inhibits
bacterial cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid is beta lactam, structurally related to penicillin, that
may inactivate certain beta lactamase enzymes.
