The Daily Five is a literacy structure and classroom management system that provides five tasks for students to work on independently: read to self, read to someone, listen to reading, work on writing, and work with words. It is designed to teach students independence and allow for differentiation through student choice. Brief whole group instructions are given before students do rounds of the five tasks. The goals are for students to build literacy skills and stamina through spending most of their time reading.
