This updated report, which was researched and published by GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) on July 5, 2013 confirms the solid industry commitment to LTE and shows that a robust support ecosystem of LTE user devices is established and continuously expanding. This latest research identified a total of 948 LTE user devices announced to the market by 100 suppliers. Device support for each of the main operating frequency bands is presented. For the first time we feature 850 MHz (band 5) as another of the frequency selections.
The number of LTE devices i.e. 948 as confirmed in this report, is 531 higher than the number GSA reported a year ago. The report covers devices supporting both the FDD and TDD modes of the LTE standard.
Most devices operate in FDD mode. However, 200 devices are identified which can operate in the TDD mode. This segment is growing strongly.
3. 1800 MHz: most popular LTE band
1800 MHz continues to be the most popular
spectrum for LTE deployments, used in the majority
of commercially launched networks globally.
284 LTE1800 user devices have been announced,
which is almost triple the number of a year ago, and
are available in all form factors. All the most popular
smartphones and brands support LTE1800.
For the current worldwide market situation of LTE
network deployments in 1800 MHz spectrum see

report â download via the link on www.gsacom.com
LTE TDD devices
LTE is a single global 3GPP standard that
addresses both FDD and TDD spectrum.
LTE TDD is an integral part of the standard. Interest
is strong and growing globally. For the current
worldwide market situation see GSAâs Status of the
Global LTE TDD Market report â download via the
link on www.gsacom.com
Multi-band, multi-mode LTE-TDD dongles and
CPEs are commercially available from all major
chipset and device manufacturers. 200 products
are announced by user device and chipset vendors
for the TDD mode and are available in various form
factors including dongles, routers, portable hotspots,
embedded modules, smartphones and tablets.
âą Terminal support for band 38 is 76%
âą Terminal support for band 40 is 68%
âą Terminal support for band 39 is 22%
âą Terminal support for band 41 is 18%
There is a good choice today of dual mode FDD-
TDD devices. For example, the bands 7/40
combination is supported in 65 devices, and the
bands 3/38 combination is supported in 60 devices.
Several operators are committed or are studying
deploying commercial LTE TDD systems in 3.5 GHz
spectrum (bands 42, 43), representing an exciting
global opportunity for the industry. The number of
LTE TDD devices operating in 3.5 GHz (bands 42,
43) although relatively few, has almost doubled
since the early 2013.
GSA calls on semiconductor and device
manufacturers to support the goals and
investments of 3.5 GHz LTE TDD operators in
bands 42/43 to ensure availability of the required
devices eco-system at the earliest opportunity.
Devices analysis using GAMBoD
GAMBoD is the GSA Analyzer for Mobile
Broadband Devices, a unique search and analysis
tool developed by GSA for mobile broadband
devices, allowing searches of GSAâs devices
databases by supplier, form factor, features, peak
downlink and uplink speeds, and operating
frequency. Results are presented in list form, or in a
spreadsheet or charts.
An RSS feed can be set up by users to alert them to
when GSA adds new devices to our databases.
Charts may be inserted into documents or
presentations, subject to citing GSA as the source.
Two databases are available for personalized
analysis tasks â one is for HSPA, HSPA+ and DC-
HSPA+ products.
The second database, GAMBoD-LTE, references
all 948 LTE devices confirmed in this report.
Both GAMBoD databases are located at
www.gsacom.com/gambod
Using GAMBoD-LTE: search 948 LTE devices by:
âą Manufacturer name
âą Product model number or name
âą Form factor
âą FDD spectrum selector bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
7, 8, 12, 13, 14, 17, 20, and 25.
âą TDD spectrum selector bands 38, 39, 40,
41, 42, and 43.
âą 3G fallback technology supported: HSPA, or
HSPA+, or DC-HSPA+, or EV-DO, or TD-
SCDMA
Access to GAMBoD is available only to qualified
site users, which GSA defines as follows:
âą registered site users who are employees of
âGSA memberâ companies
5. Membership of GSA is open to any supplier of products, systems or services related to the mobile industry
and brings many benefits including access to GAMBoD. The range of benefits also includes enhanced
networking and influencing opportunities, and unique promotional/visibility opportunities for your company
name, capabilities, positioning and messages. A member company can have four papers (e.g. white papers
or joint-branded papers) promoted on the GSA home page each year to GSAâs large, global, targeted user
base. More details can be found at www.gsacom.com/about/join.php4
GSA membership also represents excellent value for money and return on investment for delivery to your
target audiences compared to conference sponsorship, as demonstrated in the chart below.
