We’ve a gap…
•There's a lack of multi-disciplinary
and harmonized training and
education at EU level in the field
of Critical Infrastructure Protection
and Resilience.
Why a training session in CIPR?
7. 7
• Preparedness: “We will then support
…. awareness raising, training, joint

• Annex V Roadmap: Agree on
preparedness measures, such as
contingency planning, stress tests,
awareness raising, training
programmes, joint courses,
exercises and/or staff exchanges. DG

Why the JRC?
11. 11
What has been done till now?
• Training to EU Member
States (2015)
• Training to operatos of
infrastructures (2016)
12. 12
Take home messages
• A long process: Lots of planning and time is
needed
• An international organization may act as a catalyst
• Trust building is fundamental
• Involvement of Academia is important but needs
to be balanced with practical examples
• Operators-to-operators training is a key to success
• Use of practical examples – table top exercises
13. 13
Future?
• Take on board the feedback from the
stakeholders and improve the curriculum
• Disseminate it to the community as a best
practice
• What to do and what to be avoided on the
basis of our experience
• Develop an online training platform to be
used by the community
