The GLOBE Awards have since 2002 recognized the commitment to sustainability of extraordinary Canadian companies. The 2013 GLOBE Awards winners were announced on Wednesday, February 6 in conjunction with the second annual An Inspired Future event at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. 2013 GLOBE Awards Winners: The Award for Corporate Environmental Excellence Landmark Group The Award for Excellence in Emerging Technology Diacarbon Energy Inc. TheAward for Excellence in Emerging Technology will be presented to a Canadian company that has made valuable progress in the advancement of current environmental technologies or is on the cutting edge in pursuing new and emerging technologies. It will recognize the technology with the most promising potential to provide the greatest financial return from broad commercial application.

- John introduces the 3rd presenter for the Award for Technology Innovation & Application.SEE SPEAKING NOTESPresenter: Approaches the mic and says ‘Thank you John, … etc.” A few words about the Award:Increasingly today, new and innovative technologies are being developed and applied to solve pressing environmental problems. TheAward for Technology Innovation & Application will be presented to a company or group of companies that have demonstrated outstanding technical ingenuity in the development and/or application of an innovative technology with a significant environmental application. This technology will have a proven track record through commercialization.
- John introduces the 4th presenter for the Award for Excellence in Urban Sustainability.SEE SPEAKING NOTESPresenter: Approaches the mic and says ‘Thank you John, … etc.” A few words about the Award:As the hub of industry and innovation, cities have become the economic engines of society. Liveable, vibrant and sustainable cities are rising to the top of the competitive ladder through their ability to attract talent and investment. A key 'building block' for such world class cities is the planning and practice of urban sustainability in City form, building design and economic systems. TheAward for Excellence in Urban Sustainability will be presented to a local government, private sector company or consortium which has developed and applied outstanding urban sustainability principles.
- John introduces the 5th presenter for the Award for the Best Green Consumer Product.SEE SPEAKING NOTESPresenter: Approaches the mic and says ‘Thank you John, … etc.” A few words about the Award:Thousands of products have come to market in the past few years claiming to be 'green', but how "end-to-end" ecologically friendly are they? This award will be presented to a Canadian company or group of companies that has/have developed a product or line of products that are demonstrably environmentally friendly; from cradle to cradle. It could be a sustainable alternative to a conventional product or a brand new entry into the consumer marketplace or anything in between; whatever the product, the total ecological or social benefits should be apparent and verifiable.
- MIKE:We’re very proud to be also be sponsoring two national scholarships to be awarded honouring undergraduate students who have contributed to the advancement of new ideas and new ways of thinking when it comes to protecting the environment. These students have demonstrated a commitment to leadership and the environmentX number of companies have funded and collaborated on pulling these scholarships together with us. Lead by Cenovus Energy and The Delphi Group, and supported by Y and Z, these $5000 scholarships honour academic achievement and public environment service.I am pleased to ask my counterparts X from Y, and X from Z to present the scholarships.SEE SPEAKING NOTES
