On many college campuses, providing students access to GIS data and maps can be challenging. Although desktop applications like ArcMap and ArcGIS Explorer may be available, students and faculty are becoming increasingly interested in taking advantage of the data sharing capabilities and online applications available through ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Explorer Online for visualizing and sharing data collected in the field. This includes the ease of drag-and-drop capabilities, sketching and presentations of ArcGIS Explorer Online. At the University of Redlands a series of use cases has been developed to highlight the options faculty and students have in accessing GIS data and maps through both desktop and online applications. Central to these use cases has been the employment of ArcGIS Online as both a data repository and data sharing tool for both desktop and online applications as well as the integration of ArcGIS Server map services. In this session a series of use cases will be presented and discussed including the newly released ArcGIS Online for Organizations.
