The Georgia Youth Summit is a statewide leadership conference for teams of youth and adults, sponsored by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The Georgia Youth Summit is a statewide leadership
conference for teams of youth and adults, sponsored
by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.
The Summit is designed to prepare the next
generation of Georgia leaders by providing youth with
knowledge, resources and encouragement to create

When is Youth Summit?
UPDATED SUMMIT DATES-This 2012 summit will take place September 8th-9th at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, GA.
Registration will start at 10:30 am and the opening assembly will start at 1:00 pm, on Saturday the 8th.
The Summit will conclude at 3:00 pm on Sunday the 9th. Overnight accommodations on the 7th will be available, based on need.
Who Can Attend?
This event is open to current 8th-11th graders who are interested in making a difference in their community. The Summit is open to
members from all youth serving organizations. Each county is asked to bring one team to Youth Summit.
Adult Chaperones
Adult chaperones should be 21 years of age, complete the Georgia 4-H overnight chaperone training certification, and provide required
documentation for the UGA College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences screening process.
How Much Does it Cost?
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs provides scholarships for 4 youth and 1 adult from every county in Georgia. Scholarships
cover meals, lodging, educational programs and recreation activities. Teams consist of 4 students and an adult chaperone.
Military Team
Along with County Teams, the 2012 Georgia Youth Summit will host a team of Military Kids! Each branch of the
Service will be represented by Georgia youth who have a parent(s) in the Military. These Military Youth will work as
their own 'Military Specific' Team and be housed together during the summit. These youth will NOT count against
their home county’s scholarship limit. Selection and registration of this military team will be coordinated by Marcus
Eason, Operation Military Kids Coordinator.

Thank you for your interest in the 2012 Georgia Youth Summit. Through generous support from the
Governor and General Assembly, the Summit is a collaboration of the Georgia Department of
Community Affairs and Georgia 4-H Youth. The event is set for September 8th -9th at the Rock Eagle
4-H Center near Eatonton. The program kicks off at 10:30 AM Saturday and concludes at 3:00 PM on
Sunday.
Each branch of the military: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard will be represented by a
Georgia military youth. All applicants must be a dependant of a military member in the Active, Reserve
or Guard component. Applicants must be rising 9th – 12th graders. We are seeking emerging leaders
that are interested in the future of their communities.
To apply for a spot on the Military-Specific Youth Summit Team, complete the following application
and submit to Marcus Eason by June 30th at 303 Hoke Smith Annex, The University of Georgia,
Athens, Georgia 30602. The selection committee will include a cross section of military youth
programs staff and youth development specialists that will review applications and select the council
members to form a diverse and cohesive group to represent the military youth of Georgia.
