9. Draft Governance Principles
(from KAN Task Force Draft document)
• ‘’Steering Committees’’ should include individuals from academic institutions, civil society
organizations, public sector communities and private sector communities
• KANs should be led by individuals willing to work across disciplines and societal sectors
• KANs should strive for geographic, disciplinary, sector and gender balance within the
steering committee and throughout the program of activities supported
• KANs develop sufficient resources to build and support activities and connections across
broad communities, but keep administration and bureaucracy to a minimum, while
maintaining transparent, accountable and inclusive practices
