Most of the photos taken in this magazine are not based in a studio and instead include
pictures inside and outside of music festivals and pubs, In my opinion, this reduces the
professional elements of the magazine but makes it seem more down to earth and
relatable.
I think there isn’t a distinct color scheme throughout the magazine but the cover definitely
focuses on reds purples and dark blues. For me, I think this creates a mystical feeling and
seems to represent space which creates a sense of openness and freedom.
There isn’t any text apart from the Masthead and a subline which to me highlights that
they’re focusing on their visuals to draw an audience in instead of the contents inside of it-
an indie audience will probably pick something up with cool ‘artsy’ visuals.
I think the explosions of color from the hair also symbolize freedom and happiness which is
then amplified with the happy look that she has on her face.

This magazine is a poetry magazine making it quite unique compared to other ones.
‘Soliloquies Anthology’ is aimed at teens and it’s aim is to get more of a younger
audience- despite this I think it probably reaches men and woman in their 40’s.
(40+)
It’s color scheme is quite plain, giving importance to the words inside instead of the
visuals-the only picture included is a picture of a beach at night time which, to me,
creates a sense of intensity and mystery, I can see how this photo would catch the
audiences attention in a shop. An audience who wants to read poetry will definitely
enjoy this as it’s simple and to the point, no photos, no mode of address and easy to
read and only one font is included throughout the magazine.

Billboard is a magazine about famous people (mostly singers)
The colour schemes focus on reds and purples along with Rihanna’s red hair and lipstick
creates a sense of ‘sexiness’ and ‘seduction’- ‘sex sells’. The cover lines include very open
questions which make the reader want to see more- for example ‘my fans don’t really know
who I am’. A unique selling point of this magazine is its contents page at the start which
includes a detailed summary of each page in the rest of the magazine. I think the target
audience would mostly be teenagers and young adults as this magazine focuses on current
‘pop’ music.
8. Research Analysis
– All the front covers on these magazines have bold and eye catching
imagery, this is a great way to entice the audience and I will definitely
include this in my magazine.
– 2 out the three magazines contain various colors which are very eye
catching for the audience. I don’t think I will include this in my
magazine as I think it is too distracting.
