Decentralized games: a short presentation on quite a long topic.
The digital gaming industry (among other industries) is going to be disrupted like never before.
2. Here’s what that means:
Did you know?
Blockchain game development is currently really
HOT!
There are decentralized games being developed to
run on the blockchain technology- the same
technology, that’s behind Bitcoin, Ethereum and
other cryptocurrencies.
3. Players can
generate and own
digital assets of
any decentralized
game and even
become developers
of that game.
TRUE
OWNERSHIP
It’ll be easier for
independent developers
to raise capital for
game development by
simply starting an ICO
that is tied to their
digital in-game
assets.
ICO
FUNDRAISERS
Games stay even if
the original
developer
„disappears”.
An active user base
is all a blockchain
game is going to
need.
WHENEVER,
WHEREVER
4. A humble prediction:
Why not sooner?
Blockchain technology has been around for a few
years, but it simply wasn’t matured enough for
complex digital games. That is- it wasn’t until now!
With the 3rd generation of blockchain technologies
just around the corner there are hundreds of
decentralized games about to be launched in
2018/2019.
5. A CCG (collectible card game)
type of game will emerge on the
3rd generation blockchain
technology. It’ll change the
way the gaming industry
operates. A card game is a
perfect fit for blockchain,
because games with lower
technical requirements and with
an emphasis on the value of the
game’s tradeable digital assets
are going to pull in a bigger
community much faster.
6. Decentralized games can:
Aren’t some games like that?
Not... really! Games running on blockchain technology
so far have been gimmicky and/or with an extremely
short life cycle due to their extreme simplicity and
the limitations of the technology itself.
Blockchain technology has been used to advertise many
games and often those games could exist without
decentralization, but no one has made one that truly
embraces the blockchain as inseparable.
7. ●
Make it possible for gamers to use their
characters and items in multiple games with
interlinked environments.
●
Give proof of rarity to anyone who wishes to
create rare digital collector’s items.
●
Eliminate black markets and create new
gamification & monetization models.
●
Drastically reduce fraud and lost revenue.
●
Eliminate limits between developers and users.
8. More on this topic:
Why should I care?
If you work for a game developer, like to play
digital games, own a game studio, are somehow
connected to the gaming industry or even if you
aren’t:
A change is coming. It’ll be chaotic, deep,
thorough and most importantly- PERMANENT.
