	 High Frequency: Moving Waves
High frequency in electronics and communications
engineering refers to electric and/or magnetic fields with
frequencies above 100 kHz. Its long range makes high
frequency especially suitable for application in the areas
of mobile telephony, radio and television engineering, and
radar and satellite technology. The information modulated
onto the electromagnetic wave can be transmitted over fixed
lines or, wireless, through open space.
High frequency interferences may also be produced in
electronic circuits. The statutory limits for this undesired
effect are specified in the Electromagnetic Compatibility
Regulations (EMC Regulations) and the corresponding
standards.

and experimental verification of various high frequency
applications.
Signal and interconnectivity analyses provide the basis for
circuit optimisation in high-speed designs. The results of these
analyses are used to ensure electromagnetic compatibility.
Design and layout activities include concepts and optimisation
of mixed-signal circuits, antennas, filters, matching structures
etc. through to implementation and verification.
Cutting-edge simulation tools are used to model and optimise
complete systems.
	 Simulation and Modelling
Complex simulation models of extreme accuracy are required
for high-quality HF circuit development.
A wide variety of technological parameters must be taken
into account to achieve a reliable simulation of complex
integrated systems.
The simulation are converged to the defined design goals by
targeted optimisation of the model parameters.
	 Design and Implementation
The design process is based on the simulation results and
manufacturing process parameters.
The production data are generated based on the existing
expertise in high-speed design, EMC and high frequency
engineering.
The manufacturing laboratory is equipped with an A3 milling/
drilling plotter, an SMD pick and place system and a reflow
oven for prototype production.
	 Measurement and Evaluation
Our laboratory verifies the designs using cutting-edge
measurement equipment.
High-performance networks and software tools allow us to
electronically record and convert the measurement data, to
compare them with the simulation data sets and document
the results.
	 Research and Development
Hybrid Design
This field of activity concentrates on passive components
embedded in organic or ceramic substrates, such as capacitors,
inductors and resistors, as well as assembly and connection
techniques using different substrate technologies.
Circuit Design, CAD
The range of services is completed by circuit design, simulation
and implementation and subsequent transfer to production.
Simulation
The team members specialise in different simulation methods,
thus covering a wide range of software tools - from low-level
circuit simulations to 2.5D and 3D FEM simulators. Special
emphasis is placed on computer-based signal analysis as a
basis for maintaining signal integrity.
Consulting
Major tasks include general consulting on issues ranging
from concept development through to compliance with EMC
regulations.
Measurement
A laboratory is available for the metrological characterisation
of the applications. The shielding anechoic chamber is
equipped for a wide range of high-frequency and EMC
measurements.

Measurement and Evaluation Our laboratory verifies the designs using cutting-edge measurement equipment. High-performance networks and software tools allow us to electronically record and convert the measurement data, to compare them with the simulation data sets and document the results. Research and Development Hybrid Design This field of activity concentrates on passive components embedded in organic or ceramic substrates, such as capacitors, inductors and resistors, as well as assembly and connection techniques using different substrate technologies. Circuit Design, CAD The range of services is completed by circuit design, simulation and implementation and subsequent transfer to production. Simulation The team members specialise in different simulation methods, thus covering a wide range of software tools - from low-level circuit simulations to 2.5D and 3D FEM simulators. Special emphasis is placed on computer-based signal analysis as a basis for maintaining signal integrity. Consulting Major tasks include general consulting on issues ranging from concept development through to compliance with EMC regulations. Measurement A laboratory is available for the metrological characterisation of the applications. The shielding anechoic chamber is equipped for a wide range of high-frequency and EMC measurements.
