The peer feedback provided positive feedback on the editing, cinematic shots, and content of the vlog. Areas for improvement included improving the audio quality when using the GoPro, potentially cutting some parts that were too long, and applying color correction to improve the visual quality. The creator agreed that the GoPro audio needed improvement and that learning color correction would benefit future projects. They disagreed that the length was too long and felt the selfie stick shots added to the intended "raw vlog" style. Going forward, the creator plans to improve audio quality when using the GoPro and learn color correction techniques based on the feedback.
3. Research
What I tried to do with the research is while I was looking at how the other products I was
looking for inspiration from previously made content and saw how they where so well
made and analysed that. As well as how they where shown and released. This gave me
inspiration to build up my vlog. Also the idea of the thirds came into effect where I would
draw the viewers attention by placing myself in a shot that shows me off more and gets the
viewers attention to me. I saw this done by many vloggers and producers. So I took that
aspect to make it look professional.
Also for my research I tried reaching out to the audiences and everybody that I knew about
there views on the idea. This was done via survey to collect audience data. That I got
responses to quickly and efficiently in the form of the quantitative research. Although a
down side where people making fun or not giving suitable answerers to the question. I still
got enough real responses to make a good overview of the projects. A better way I could of
got responses is by bringing the questions to the preferable audiences. This would have
been done by putting my survey link onto forums or pages that are all about vlogging or
comiccon. instead of posting it freely on my Facebook with many different responses and
view points.
What I used from the questionnaires is was observe the % of peoples responses to the
question therefor having an overview of my audience. In the end aiming my demographic at
the C2 and B with focus on the belongers in the psychographic.
4. Planning
What my intentions where to do is to use my research and draw ideas out of that. Meaning
that I would update the channel and give it a new look as well as a new feel to the content.
As well as changing it to a more subtitle name. This meant that my content wasnât held to
gaming videos I previously made on the channel. I risked using my own name as channels
name. It sounded more like a professional channel than the previous name.
With my planning I had to make a lot before like shooting content 2 months in advance
before I even started editing. Meaning I had an idea what I wanted to do for a while.
As well as knowing what shots I wanted while filming with an idea of how the vlog to be
layed out. Therefor knowing what the views wanted also and how I would continue the
vlog.
Using a story bored before shooting gave me an idea of what I wanted in the final product
and what shots I though would look good and needed to get. Most of theses shot where
used in the final product while others where scraped due to being too long or just not up to
scratch to the final product, this can be seen in the desitions shots list. Although most
content wasnât stuck to the story bored because it wasnât like a production that I could
control. I had to rely on chance and many other aspects to make sure that there was
enough content for the vlog. As well as constantly trying to aim my product at the 48% of
the survey as well as many more people that I may not know that'll watch the video.
5. Time Management
The time frames we where given is 8 weeks although I stared filming 4 weeks in advance to make
sure my content was ready enough for when I started the project. Having had the content in
ready before gave the extra help needed to We had deadlines to had in plans and research, areas
that where done on time perfectly. Although, the pre production and the production took longer
than expected, having to either go though a shot list or the change in software for each
computer. That caused a lot of trouble when I was exporting. If I was able to change the way I was
working I would of preferred to only work on one computer throughout the project. Therefor
there being no soft wear issues as well as everything can be saved to one computer if necessary.
From all the power points I had to do the research and pre production where the only ones that
went over my personal timeframe/ deadline. This was because for the research I had to wait for
my responses that took over a week to collect all of them for a perfect result that was the
amount of people taking the survey. Wile pre production I had to re interpreted a lot of the work
due to the fact of me answering or not reading the criteria properly before hand.
Apart from that all pieces of work where handed in on time and the only thing that held
production was the software.
Also we made a time management schedule meaning we had to work to a certain deadline each
day. This helped because it made us have a knowledge of what needed to be done when.
Therefor the product could be released at a certain date instead of it being random.
This gave me an ideas of what PowerPoint's presentations I had to do when. Therefor giving me a
step up from where I was before for the production as well as hitting criteria for the subject.
6. Technical Qualities
A view of my channel that I made a
costume banner and thumbnail for my
channel. Giving a professional look that
looks almost identical to âD-Piddysâ
channel. I went for a ârawâ vlog style
meaning my vlogging was really bare
bones and amateur looking. Giving a
diffrent style to my vlog.
D-Piddys channel is what I based a lot of
the vlog off of. Making a lot of similarities
to each. this helped in a way of knowing
what works in a video and what doesnât.
D-Piddys idea for vlogging is more
cinematic content making his vlogs/
montages more professional looking.
The main defences about each channel
is the view and subscriber count. This
is because D-Piddy have had many
years to perfect his work while with
my channel Ive only just started again.
Trying to reboot a gameplay channel
with a vlog. Also making regular
uploads I had problems with due to
work or other technical issues.
Therefor I lacked in content. What I
used to create the art for the channel
is Photoshop a well as using premiere
to make the videos on my channel.
Having a range of skills in different
areas and software for my channel.
Thumbnails and the logos where
created on Photoshop and expended
to be placed into the videos as
thumbnails. I used premire in my most
resent project with the vlog. Although
it does show where my channel is
going in the future with the content I
will be making.
My channel D-Piddys channel
7. Aesthetic QualitiesWhat I tried to do is make my work look as professional as possible. This was done by adding in logos subtitle's as well as changing my channels look to suit the
audience.
Also putting in a lot of cinematic shots to make views have a quick idea of where I was what I was doing and who I was with in only a couple of seconds.
How I wanted the channel to look like I was part of the comiccon community already this was done by the high showing of Deadpool a already well know comic
book antihero. Showing to my audience and my target audience that I could relate to them that is a key part to good content. As well as some individuality. The
individuality is shown in my actual content and work. With a new cinematic/ raw vlog style.
What other aspects where correcting the colours for each shot by brightening them up. This made it watchable to the audience as well as helping with the look of
the final product.
I tried to keep my logo in the project to show it as more of a brand than just a YouTube video that they would look on. Also giving a face to the channel meaning
they know what content is officially mine. This would help also in selling merchandise on my red bubble store making people wear my brand.
I used my experiment work also in my final product because I really liked how it made the channel come alive and look like lots of time had been put into the
layout of it. I used audiences qualitative feedback to make sure that my channel was more unique and had its own style so I went with a laid back vlogger style
with bits of content everywhere. This gave a style that itâs a hidden businesses I want out of the channel. this can be also seen with the merchandise with small
simple logos to look casual looking than âfan boy/ girlâ looking. This would appeal to both genders.
8. Aesthetic
This was the original shot clip from the
camera. A seen in the snapshot, showing that
the clip is really in need to be edited. At the
time I didnât know that I could of changed the
brightness on the fly. Therefor I couldn't
change what it looked like when I was up
there. The shot was meant to look like
Michael and lee being center shot being able
to see the background.
This was the edited shot on the channel.
Where I made the brightness and
contrast higher by 20%, so we could see
the background of the shots. Making
sure Michael and lee where in the rule of
thirds where they would be in most focus
of the shot.
9. Audience Appeal
To make sure I had the correct audience for my project I handed out surveys and questionnaires, this quantitative research was
for an easy access of the ideas I wanted to show. This was to everyone but from the questions I asked I would have got the
opinions I needed to complete my work. Looking at these opinions help shape the content in my work and make sure my
target audience (people into Cosplay ) would enjoy my work. I will also make sure that the audienceâs feedback influences the
final cut. This was done by adding in the cinematic shots people thought was a key aspect of a vlog, how I got this idea was
from my qualitative research that I had done, with their opinions shaping the shots I took. The music I put in was to suit the
type of people. With EDM and dubstep that was no copy write therefor not having any complentes agents my work. The music
was there for background music as well as having a little fun with the production adding in music where I saw fit. After the
release I took a look at the responses and the main response was negative about the go pro footage not that the footage was
bad but that it needed more sound. Therefor next time I will change the sound quality next time I use a gopro.
Although people wanted to see me than the content I created this was shown in my interviews with one of the people in my
feed back stating âtheyâd watch it for me and because I made itâ showing how my content should be panned out. More about
me and less about what others are doing. Therefore me needing a lot of screen time. Another key aspect to a vlog.
With my merchandise I had control of the costs of them therefor meaning that I can make sure the audiences get merchandise
as well as other members this really apples to the c2 of my audience that may not have enough money to afford some of the
clothing. The minimum price point for a t shirt being ÂŁ12 therefor I'm only getting 20% of the cash being made in the sale. With
people with more money being able to buy something like a ÂŁ25 hoodie instead of just a shirt.
Although I had to make sure it fit the Demographic of the audience with me having to appeal to the C2 and B this was done by
looking though the % on the research power point and using that to get my perfect audience. Out of the people who did the
survey only 48% would of watched me vlog, so I was already taking a huge risk. With the physiographic being belonger and
fitting to that role of everyone connecting and being together with my target age range of 15-24 year olds. That made 84% of
my audience.

look better ï ï
12. Feedback 2
âą What did you like about the product?
â I really enjoyed the content on the whole, I felt it was
informative and entertaining, the music was upbeat and
engaging and the updates were useful there were a large range
of clips and activities shown that were interesting, the editing
was brilliant as it depicted and easy flow of time transition and
duration all in all it was Amazing Keep up the good work!
âą What improvements could have been made to the
product?
â There were only slight hitches in sound primarily when using the
âSelfie Stickâ and if some of the music was louder that would be
great but beyond this, there are very few improvements
required.
13. Feedback 3
âą What did you like about the product?
âą I felt the music fit the type of content you wanted.
âą The cinematic shots where the best.
âą Enjoyed the content you had in the vlog
âą It really showed who you where
âą What improvements could have been made to the product?
âą Felt it was too long and some bits could have been cut out
âą Gopro audio quality was really bad.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
âą What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
â I agree with all dislikes about the go pros sound quality. I saw this while editing and agree that
the quality wasnât up to standard. What I've done to insure this will never happen again I have
bought a skeleton mount for the go pro freeing the microphone therefor having better sound
quality.
â Also I agree with the quotes about the music choice mainly because it took a while to find the
perfect type and I managed to by the end of the process. Next time I may ask more about
music choice also just to make sure my production is suiting multiple genres of music.
â Finally I agree with the colour correction statement. I feel like if I knew how to I would of
because most shots where quite dull and colourless. Therefor feedback to work on for future
reference. So I will learn what I have to do to create the colour correction and work from there
on my next project.
âą What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I feel the use of my selfie stick was good mainly for the shots. This made my content look like a
raw vlog that what I was going for therefor I disagree with the statement saying I shouldnât of
used the selfie stick. I felt the 10 minutes was good for a monthly like vlog because I'm not doing
the vlog often. As well as the viewer has full control if they want to jump half way though the
video. Therefor its all on the audience on what parts they want to watch as well as this being my
first video in a while therefor should be longer to introduce myself. Although this project is a one
off and a very special occasion so next time I do this would be different.
15. Peer Feedback Summary
Certainly I would change the case for the gopro giving us better audio quality.
Hopefully making the video more enjoyable for the viewer. Also making this change
will mean there will be less people getting confused on what I said or having to go
back and look over again. And if that was sorted I would only use the Gopro.
This would effect production by there being only one camera on meaning that it
would have a lot of pressure on keeping that running and charged. With having to
buy multiple rigs and equipment just for the go pro. Adding cost also.
Facing key issues like this would ensure success in future videos and content. As well
as making the whole experience a lot more pleasant for the viewer by making it
easier to understand and follow along with what's going on.
Maybe adding in more graphics to the production an example of this could have
been; adding everyone's names when they were introduced, or adding in more of
the locations. Doing this would ensure that there would be less confusion between
each shot. As well as maybe the use of graphics including subtitles so if there were
audio issues then the subtitles would counter that. Maybe adding comedy value as
well. This is all seen as audience feedback that will go into my future work for the
channel to make sure a range of needs are attended to. Therefore widening my
audience at the same time due to the satisfaction of others having a constant
domino effect.
