Efficiency: 
• Getting the maximum output with minimum input (objective 
performance) 
• Takes into consideration the present state 
• Doing things consistently 
• Focuses on the process 
Effectiveness: 
• Measures if actual output meets desired output 
• Takes into consideration the long term strategy 
• Having desires or innovative ways of working 
• Focuses on the results

USEFULNESS OF EFFECIENCY & EFFECTIVENESS 
• Efficiency & Effectiveness are useful management tools 
• Both concepts are to be used concurrently or interrelatedly 
• Very useful for monitoring and evaluating employees’ output 
• Helps to have a clear mind for creativity and innovative ideas 
• Both are performance indicators 
• Ability to get things done, on time and to avoid mistakes 
• One has the motivation and the determination to work harder

– Allow room for improvement through feedback and

• Employee motivation is "psychological forces that determine the direction 
of a person's behavior in an organization, a person's level of effort and a 
person's level of persistence“-Wikipedia 
• “Employee motivation is a mystery for many manager and 
– not all employees respond to same motivations 
– 5 factors (satisfaction, appreciation, recognition, inspiration and 
compensation) determine employee motivation. ”-J.P. Maroney (2004) 
• “Take care of employees and they’ll take care of your customers.”-Flavio 
Martins (Jan. 2014)

Intangible motivations: 
• Share the customers feedback with your employees 
• Engage with employees to make them feel of a sense of belonging 
• Creating a positive work environment ensures a satisfying work experience and better 
results 
• Appraisal in the form of words 
Tangible motivations: 
• Invest in employee training to help them develop in their workmanship 
• Remuneration 
– Motivation in terms of incentives (lunch coupons, bonuses, salary 
advancement etc) 
– Offering work discounts if needed 
– Reward employees base on customer feedback- J.P. Maroney 
– Flexibility of working hours and tasks 
• Active support of sharing of task and managing task
