3. Introduction
■ The social group represented in my media product is mainly aimed at both males and
females, although it may appeal more to females from some aspects. The genre of
pop is inclusive of both sexes therefore meaning my magazine should appeal to them
both. Also, the colour scheme I used (grey, yellow and black) is fairly neutral therefore
representing this.
■ The typical demographic of the genre I have chosen is both males and females, aged
between 15 and 20 and of a white ethnicity. My magazine generally conforms to this
stereotype as it appeals to males and females but also the use of white models in the
main images will make it more likely to appeal to the white ethnicity.
4. Age
■ The age range of my magazine is one which differs to the usual stereotyped audience
of this genre of music magazine. The typical demographic age was 13 to 20 year olds
where as my magazine has a smaller age range of 16 to 18 year olds. This is due to the
models used in my images being a lot younger than real music magazines, therefore
making it appeal to a younger demographic. By using younger models in my images,
older generations tend to feel that it is too young for them to read. Also, the specific
language I have used throughout my magazine makes it more approachable and
appropriate for this small age range. This is because it is specific to the language that
16 to 18 year olds use and they will therefore understand when it is used in the
magazine. Furthermore, creating a wider interest from this smaller demographic.

5. Gender & Sexuality
■ My magazine represents both sex/gender through the use of its models, throughout
my magazine I use both male and female models which will make it more appealing
for both genders. Also, the colour scheme I have used is neutral enough to attract both
sexes. Although the colour scheme I have used doesn’t necessarily conform to those of
a stereotypical pop magazine but they make it so that my magazine doesn’t only
represent one gender. Images used in my magazine are open enough to appeal to
both men and women, for example the front covers main image will appeal to females
as they want to be like the female model used but will also appeal to males as they will
be attracted to her. This making my magazine representative of both male and
females.
■ No sexualities are particularly represented within my magazine, leaving it open to all
audiences of different sexualities.

6. Ethnicity & Region
■ A white ethnicity is most commonly represented in my magazine through the use of
white models, however it does show some diversity as some images do include people
of a black ethnicity.Although my magazine represents a majority of the white
ethnicity there is no specific ethnicity that it is aimed at. My magazines genre is pop
music but also including some chart music, within chart music any genre of music can
be found therefore making my magazine appeal to a wider range of ethnicities.
■ No religions are specifically represented within my magazine therefore making it open
and appealing to people of all religions.

7. Class
■ Class is shown in my magazine again through the use of my models, they are young
models who are shown to have a passion for what they do and there want to be
successful. My magazine will therefore attract people of the working class who do
have a passion for something and it will therefore show them that they can be
successful. It will also attract people from the middle class as they often have similar
ambitions to the models used in my magazine. My magazine costs £2.99 and will
therefore be affordable for those from a working and middle class making it appealing
for both social groups.
