‘The Learning City’ 2nd

Sweden. The major goal of the meeting was exchanging experience, as well as planning project’s
further actions.
The first day of the meeting was dedicated to presentation of Swedish
educational system by Mr Ali Rashidi, the director of Department for
International Cooperation at Folkuniversitetet, Uppsala. The
presentation covered historical background, introduction of Uppsala
Folkuniversitetet, as well as detailed description of education in
Sweden. The second day started with demonstration of YH Mälardalen project results, made by Ms
Carina Lundström. After that the partnership discussed all administrative issues along with planning
further activities of the project.
“We were extremely glad to welcome the Learning City partners here in Uppsala Folkuniversitetet.
We hope the experience that we shared will help the partnership on its way”, - says Ali Rashidi, the
director of Department for International Cooperation of Folkuniversitetet.
The Learning City is a movement that promotes collaboration of the civic, private, voluntary and
education sectors at the level of a village, town, or city, enabling every person to participate and
contribute to the development of their community. The project will allow partner organisations to
increase their knowledge in the field, by benchmarking national/regional/local policies and
exchanging examples and good practices collected at national/regional/local level.
