Project proposal title and date:
FMP Horror Project
Main area of activity:
The main areas of activity will be film and audio.
Rationale:
Over the past year I’ve developed a lot of skills which will help with the production of this
project. Similar projects to the current one may include the foley sounds project where I
went out and recorded pieces of audio to go over the top of pre-existing film. The ability to
make shots well lit, well angled and to set the camera up appropriately will all be skills I will
use from prior projects such as the key film and the music video. The most important
however will be the use of premier pro to edit together the footage I have and turn it into a
high-quality piece of work
Project Concept:
The overall concept for my Final major project is a short horror movie making use of foley
techniques in certain areas of the film. This film will be based around 2 explorers going to
an old, abandoned house to find clues on an old myth about the town. In doing this the 2
characters are confronted by a masked figure defending the clues which leads to them
being “haunted” for the foreseeable future. After making drafts to the story, I believed that
this idea was the best due to the suspense and the ability to create a very high quality
looking short films. The research I need to conduct will be regarding the best shots for
creating tension in a film meaning the watches remains engaged and scared for what’s
about to happen. I found a good research method is watching premade films made by not
only big companies but also small groups of people and even individuals as it can give you
an idea of how to create a good tone for the movie by observing the shots used, the foley
techniques, the use of props and costume and much more. With all of these things taken
into consideration I believe I will have a solid end product for my FMP.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
My work will be reviewed in several ways by both peers and I. Self-reflection is import during this
project as it allows for me to look back on my own work and decide which bits can be improved
from my own eye. Peer reflection is equally as important as it allows for things that I wouldn’t
usually see to be spotted by people such as teachers or classmates.
