Bloom’s Taxonomy

It’s always the same. First, I blow down the straw house and the first little pig runs to the stick house.
Then I blow down the stick house and the first and second little pigs run to their brother’s brick house.
No matter how hard I try, I simply can’t blow the brick house down. It’s so frustrating!
I’m sick and tired of those little pigs. I need to get rid of them somehow.
Oh, why can’t I do anything right? I’ve been trying to eat those three little pigs for years now, but they always outsmart me! I am such a loser!
I can’t take this any more. I need professional help!!!
I get mad when the second little pig flees from the stick house. He runs to the brick house and I still haven’t figured out how to blow that one down. What’s the matter? Don’t worry. You just need some help with your thinking skills and you’ll be eating little piggy ribs very soon.
That’s easy! He used bricks. How is this knowledge going to help me? Let’s start. What material did the third little pig use to build his house? Knowledge Knowledge is the first level of thinking. It will not help you much without the next level
Let’s see, I know that the straw and stick houses are easy to blow down but the brick one isn’t. What do you know about the pigs’ houses? Comprehension So you comprehend that brick is stronger than straw or sticks. That’s right!
Can you give me an example? Let’s now apply your understanding. You use application when you take something you have learned and put it to use. Application The third little pig used bricks because he understood that you could not blow down a brick house. Oh, I see! I hate that smart little pig!
Analysis? What do you do when you analyze? Very good! You can now use analysis. Analysis Well, when you analyze, you basically take things apart. I get it! I will examine all the parts of the brick house closely. Maybe I’ll find a weak spot. Perhaps there is an open window or a chimney large enough for me to go through. Or maybe bricks could be easily broken with a hammer.
How do you do that? Excellent! Now it’s time to synthesize. Synthesis All you have to do is put things back together in a new or different way. Ok. So if I look at all the parts of the third little pig’s house and then figure out how it’s made, then maybe I can create something to help me get into the house.
So how do I figure that out? When you’re trying to synthesize, it’s not always easy to know if the new way is better or worse. Evaluation Maybe you need to make a new judgment on WHY you want to capture the three little pigs . Actually, my doctor has told me to stay away from pork because of my cholesterol. On the other hand , I just LOVE “CHICHARRONES” for breakfast! I guess I need to evaluate this more carefully. Thanks for your help!
