Algerian R Users Group is open to anyone who uses R for data analysis, data visualization, or Data Mining, or anyone who is interested in learning R. All skill levels are welcome. Our goal is to support and share R experiences and knowledge among its users in the Algerian community.

7. Why Use R?
R is not just a statistical tool, it’s a language:
Simulation.
Automation.
Reproducibility.
R is designed to operate the way that problems are thought about:
R is vector-oriented, meaning that objects are generally treated as a whole same as
humans tend to think of the situation rather than as a collection of individual numbers.
R is both flexible and powerful
Interactive.
Open Source.
Very Active Community (+1 Millions)
Libraries (+2000).
Can call C and C++ functionality from R.
Which Analytics tool do you prefer to use:
SAS, R, or Python?

9. What else R can do for you?
1. R can do text mining: Check out stringr, tm, and a large number of other natural language processing packages.
2. R can get data out of a database: Check out RMySQL, RMongoDB, rhdf5, ROracle,RODBC,……
3. R can process nasty data: Check out dplyr, reshape2, tidyr…………
4. R can process images: EBImage is a good general purpose tool, but there are also packages for various file types like
jpeg.
5. R can handle different data formats: CSV, json, xml, excel, SPSS, SAS,…………..
6. R can interact with APIs: Check out RCurl and httr for general purpose software, or you could try some specific
examples like twitter, Rfacebook, Google map, Open Street map,………………..
7. R can do web scrapping: Check out Rvest, RSelenuim, Rcurl, httr,………….
8. R can build apps/interactive graphics: Shiny, Plotly, Ggvis,……………………………..
9. R can create dynamic documents: Try out Knitr or slidify.
10. R can play with Hadoop and Spark: Check out the rhadoop, Sparklyr, Rspark.
11. R can create interactive teaching modules: You can do it in the console with swirl or on the web with Datamind.
12. R interfaces very nicely with C if you need to be hardcore: Rcpp, rPython,………………………

21. What is our objective?
Algerian R Users Group aims to:
Federate the community of Algerian "Data Analysts, Data Miners and Data Scientists” who
use R.
Promote the teaching of R Language in universities, especially for students following
degrees with quantitative options (Statistics, Finance, Economics, Operations Research,
Machine Learning, etc ...)
Welcome as members and/or partners all persons/companies that are active directly or
indirectly in the field of Analytics whether in business, academia or NGOs, it is above all a
place where members can exchange and share their experiences and ideas around the use
of the R language in their respective fields.
22. Why a group specialized in R?
358 meetup spread over 223 cities and 55 countries, by May 15, 2016
