English Amharic dictionary unrealistically defines Ethiopian months by the Gregorian months based on the alphabetic arrangement of the second. Alphabetically arranged 12 Gregorian months are April, August, December,..., and September. Accordingly they defined April as is Miyazya, August as is Nehase,..., and September as is Meskeram. The sum of common year and leap year of Ethiopian months are 360 where as the Gregorian months are 365 and 366 days respectively. 12 months of 30 days is 360 days in both common and leap years; where as 7 months of 31 days , 4 months of 30 days and one special month of 28/29 days are equal to 365 days in the common year and 366 days in the leap year. Therefore, according to the current English Amharic dictionaries in Ethiopia ;Ethiopia’s calendar months are less than the Gregorian by 5/6 days of Pagume. Please refer the -5 in common and -6 in the leap year in the last column and row of the above schedule respectively. The schedule confirms that the current definition is wron because it eliminates the Universal concept of Pagume. But Pagume is 5/6 rotations of earth in the tropics.
